Gouge Chisel Sharpening Jig for Wood Lathe Woodturning chisels for Bench Grinder

Pretty simple to set up for the grinder. Once I've got my angle on whatever gouge I'm using, holding in the jig, it does the job perfectly. Obviously the more I use, the more confident I'll get. Great value for money, feels very sturdy and should last a long time.

Very pleased. Recently started wood turning and didn't look forward to sharpeing my chisels unaided. This looked a good option (I had an old B&D grinder) so went for it. Had to remount my grider on some different boards to get the right spacing/height for mounting and then using the tool but the installation instructions are clear. Once done it's a doddle just to put a shine/edge back on my bowl gouges etc. They say a blunt chisel is dangerous and this really is a easy way to keep them sharp and with correct angles.

This jig is an absolute Joy to use. Eliminates almost all the faults in grinding Gouges - no more burned corners of Roughing Gouge no more uneven flutes or edges on spindle gouges and an edge to die for on Bowl gouges. After several decades of battling with the tools I now have a simpler, satisfying and better way of sharpening my turning Gouges! Fabulous

This is a great aid to sharpening lathe tools. Once set up it is great for enabling consistent grinding angles on a grid wheel. Highly recommend.

Quite easy to set up. Very robust. Was able to sharpen my 1/2" bowl gouge satisfactorily the very first time. Cuts beautifully now and with a proper bevel. I have been struggling to sharpen gouges the way Richard Raffan does it - by hand and eye. But with a jig the long bevels are now a work of art. One area I think a slight improvement could be made is the bolt securing the gouge to the jig. If it had something on the end (perhaps a rubber tip?) it might be a bit easier to get the horizontal alignment right - particularly on small gouges (e.g. 1/4" flute). The other thing would be some adjustment on the tilt angle for the jig, but it does work beautifully well at the set angle. I will probably knock up an adjustable attachment if I find I need one. I bought this as a punt, half expecting to send it back, but it's a keeper. Make sure you watch the YT video linked in the printed instructions - it's much better than the videos the manufacturer has on their own channel. Overall very pleased.

I have used various sharpening jigs over the years with varying degrees of success, but none have matched the ease of use of this product. It is easy to set up, even easier to use, and the consistency of the grind is first class. I did have problems with the delivery at first as the courier Lathes UK used couldn't find my address, but after contacting Darren at Lathes UK the problem was easily solved and they now use a different courier, also as a very generous gesture Darren sent me another one of his products, a skew sharpening jig, for free. This jig is equally easy to use and just as consistent as the original. I am extremely happy with both products and very grateful to Darren and Lathe UK for their help with the delivery issue.

This device has changed my wood turning experience, scraper and gouges sharp and performing better than new, would highly recommend
