My First Preschool Doll, Brooklyn with 13.5-inch Soft Posable Body & Black Hair, Plush Poodle & Accessories

I have purchased one each of six different versions of the 2023 13.5" My First Barbie (four standard dolls, and two boxed sets) plus all of the individual outfits that I've been able to find either in stores or here on Amazon. I have been working with dolls for more than 30 years, and grew up having Barbies as well. The quality of the 13.5" dolls really goes back to what we haven't seen in literal decades. The knees and elbows actually click-bend, and the hair fibre used is excellent quality. The entire body has a soft vinyl feel, and while this type of body can tend to pick up lint (easy to wipe clean with a soft cloth, mild soap and water) it isn't so cold for a child's hands. The body has molded-on bra and panties that are not painted (paint would not last long on the soft body anyway) for modesty. The figure has a wider waist by comparison to similar 11.5" Barbies, so if enlarging patterns for 23 My First you will have to adjust the waist. The hands are molded with fingers and thumb all together (the "mitten" hand) which is easier to dress, but it isn't an unappealing hand sculpt. The outfits each come with a small stuffed "pillow pet", which is cute. The shoes are all slit in the back heel to make putting them on and off easier. A small pinch of corn starch or baby powder inside the shoe or on the foot can help with putting shoes on soft vinyl feet as well. Each outfit contains a unique accessory as well, such as a purple balloon on a stick for the birthday set, an adorable hat for the swim set, etc. The clothes themselves are not detailed outfits, but rather have printed-on details and full back opening hook and loop tape fasteners. While I'd love to see more detailed outfits for the dolls, these are totally geared towards little ones and they are wonderful with that in mind. The facial screening is friendly and appealing. The eyes feel just slightly oversized on all of the dolls (regardless of skin tone) but they have very happy, engaging faces overall. The darkest skin tone doll has freckles, and I think she is one of my favourites. I hope this line is successful and continues, as I believe it has been very well done and has appeal for both children and doll collectors. I'm very happy with all of the items I have purchased so far.

And what I mean by substantial is that she has a good “heft” to her almost like the old-school 90s Barbies. Her body is soft, meaning that the skin is smooth; it is not a cotton-stuffed doll like the old pajama barbie. She’s bigger than most Barbies; her knees and arms are bendable. The clothes are easy to remove for small children to be able to handle appropriately. I didn’t buy her when she was $20; I got her for half off on prime day. But if you have a young kid who really likes her or you want to get your kid into Barbies, I’d say the price original price is worth it.

I bought this Barbie for my daughter’s third birthday party because when I showed her some example cakes and asked which one she wants, she asked for a Barbie cake, and I wanted one with blonde hair, bangs, and blue eyes, so I could easily cut her hair to match the length of my daughter’s! I actually didn’t know the preschool Barbie’s existed until I looked up Barbie’s with bangs lol She was PERFECT for the birthday cake!!! Perfect size, perfect texture to hold the plastic wrap easily to keep her clean from the cake lol, great posability, and great VISIBILITY since she’s a bit larger than a typical Barbie so she didn’t feel like she was drowned out by the cake! My husband even had fun bending her knees over and over and hearing the cracking sound she makes (which my daughter also thought was fun) LOL 😂 She was so excited when she saw her and said “*GASP* She looks like ME!” (😍) and all the girls at the party liked playing with her after we took her out of the cake! We bought her the matching birthday dress to put her in after we removed her from the cake, which coincidentally matched our theme! LOL It couldn’t have worked out better! 😄💜🧜🏻‍♀️ At the end of the day we asked my daughter what her favorite thing from her party was (thinking she would pick a gift) and she said “My cake!” 😍 The Barbie cake just feels like such a core-memory experience, and this one was absolutely perfect in every way for what I needed and my daughter ADORES her! 🥹🥰

We got the full set, Barbie, the bed and a bunch of the accessories and pets. I’m very impressed about the quality of the doll. It is very easy to dress and use compared to the newer traditional Barbies. Both the clothing and the shoes are much easier. Her brush is huge and actually useful. Her legs and arms bend like the 90s Barbie legs did. She’s softer and more cuddly than normal Barbie. I feel like this is a much better value than regular Barbie doll. We will be getting more of these I think. My daughter is 4 and doesn’t pay much attention to her regular Barbie’s but she LOVES this. She’s changed her clothes like 10 times today. The pets set is also nice. I would say they are a little top heavy because they are hollow but my daughter doesn’t seem to care or notice. The bed is also a nice quality with actual soft/plush bedding and all the accessories stick into each other with little pegs so they don’t fall over. Very impressed. Nice toy and worth the investment in the line. If you have a little one this is worth it 100%

La cosa che mi ha subito colpito di questa barbie è il materiale con il quale è stata fatta, sembra lo stesso tipo di plastica snodabile delle Barbie anni '80, fantastica, bella e morbida , appena più grande delle barbie standard, dà proprio l'idea di un buon prodotto.

Très jolie Barbie que j'ai appelé "Barbie arthrose" dû aux craquement de ses articulations. Parfait pour un enfant de 3 ans, les accessoires sont assez gros et la poupée est bien maniable. La petite fille à qui je l'ai offert était très contente !
