LEGO71418 Super Mario Creativity Toolbox Maker Set, Building Toys for Kids to create Their Own Levels with Figures, Grass, Desert and Lava Builds, Starter Course Expansion, Gift Idea

First of all this is an expansion set to be used with existing Lego sets from the Super Mario builds. You can have either 71360 (Mario), 71387 (Luigi) or 71403 (Princess Peach) lego sets to start with. You need those starters as they have the character that can then use the course - the characters have then Bluetooth connection that you need to play. For those unfamiliar with the Super Mario lego series, it is slightly different to the regular lego sets in that it is an interactive set where the character moves along through a course from start to end with various obstacles along the way. The expansion sets extend the playability and there are so many different combinations that you can make.There is a lot to this set, it's really colourful with lots of components - pyramids, trees, flowers, mushrooms, water and lava obstacles. It's a lot of fun and typical Super Mario style. Kids enjoy playing with this, especially those that are familiar with the platform games (i.e. Super Mario Bros U). It's a good way of relating video games back into toys, and then encouraging kids to be creative and make their own courses. It's quite funny to hear them develop strategies - what is an easy course, what is a difficult course, and how to change the difficulty depending on what they want to do. It's a different way of thinking to normal lego which is really interesting. Not all kids will take to it, I can see how some would get a bit fed up and may lose interest. That hasn't happened here yet, but I do wonder when the novelty will run out, I guess then its time for another expansion pack - which could get expensive!

You need kit 71360 to play the lego mario app as it has the Mario character in it - this is not this set.This set enhances the other set for the app game play and the app cannot be played without the other set.As a lego set this is the usual excellent quality building bricks and all pieceswere present.The instructions are only available online: I've used the free lego builder app which contains instructions as clear as what you'd normally get in the booklet (not included).My only concern about such lego instructions is are they going to be available in years to come?The answer is most likely yes, since lego is so huge.There are lots of recognisable Super Mario world models within this set and there are a good few extra bits to help you create your own world.There are lots of other Super Mario lego sets so you can keep building on the Mario world....you just need that other kit first or at least as well in order to play.It's easy to build. It says from age 6 years which I'd say is doable if you have a child who already knows lego. Otherwise adult assistance is most likely required.I love lego so all lego is good. I do wish that there was some access to the super mario app from all the sets because if you spend £54.99 and then discover you can't play the game you'd be disappointed...so be aware...still 5 stars because lego is awesome!

This Lego set extends a main Lego Mario set (71360) for gameplay. It has excellent quality bricks (of course! it's Lego!) and online instructions. We enjoyed finding many recognisable Super Mario world models and extra bits to create your own world. You need the other set to play the app, but it's still a great Lego set.

This is such a fun Super Mario expansion/starter set as there is a great selection of figures, landscape type Lego and lava bricks. The figures included are Wendy, a Blue Yoshi and a Goomba.I think this is a great set to get children who maybe get bored or lose interest when building a complete Lego model. In this set there are small builds which you can then add to other Super Mario Lego sets to create your own experience. I love how creative this set can be.Overall you get a good amount of Lego, it is a great add on to other sets and it is also great for children who might not be able to concentrate for long periods. We have found the set to be lots of fun and great to build and play with as a family. I’m happy with it!

At the time of reviewing this it is priced at £50.59 which I think is a little high saying that this is real lego and the quality of this is fantastic.My autistic son does lego therapy and loves super Mario and when I notice lego did these sets it was a great combination for him. He currently has other super Mario bro lego sets built up and it is especially good for his imagination but when I saw this set I thought this would make a great addition to his collection.This set includes 588 pieces and great to add as scenery there is trees, flowers, hills, pyramids, mushrooms etc certainly enough to be getting on with. You get 3 super Mario characters with this and he has took to the blue yoshi.This is great to add to any collection and a perfect gift for Christmas and birthdays.I highly recommend.

The set is a decent size, Lots of pieces enabling some amazing creations.It offers multiple options of items for your Lego Mario to jump on, each object makes a different noise when Mario interacts with it.There is a Lego app you download for building instructions and it keeps score for you when playing your level. The instructions to follow are easy, which shows you how to make your creative masterpieces digitally. It also means everyone can have a go at building a character or individual piece.A great set to keep the kids entertained for hours. It's enjoyable to see the children play with it and hear their own Super Mario sound effects too!

So this is a lego expansion set for the Super Mario Starter course,currently selling on Amazon for £54.99.This can still be used as a stand alone product but you will get none of the parts in that Starter course-so the Super Mario figure is not present.This particular set is called the Maker Set and is suitable for 6+ and comes with a lot of pieces and enables you to be able to assemble 3 characters.Good product that will stand the test of time.My rating is 5 Stars.I hope you will find my review helpful.
