RE-PURPUSSED AS HI-FI SPEAKER GUARDS - No Fireplace but 2 Cats!
I recently installed my prized vintage 'Abbey Road Studios' Tannoy Monitor Gold 15 (85 x 55 cm) speakers in our living room. But the fragile fabric was too tempting for Iggy & Siouxsie, our cats. After one claw sharpening incident caused minor damage I knew I had to find a solution - and fast! I racked by brains. As a stop gap I used deterent sprays & blocking with chairs every night. I looked up various insect or advertising screens etc but they were never the right size or would block the sound. Then I stumbled upon fireguards but these were either too low or massive cage affairs....until....I spotted the TANGZON 'GATED' MODEL 113 x 85cm, including the 3 cm frame - PERFECT! Bought Mon arrived Weds. I then measured up (Pic 3) it looked promising. I then hacksawed, filed & finally hammered the very well made gates off their well engineered solid hinges (I had hoped for simple bolts) and 'Et Viola'! I hung each flush off 2 small nails slotted between the fabric & 50+ year old cabinetry. They are reversed for better purchase which also hides the hinge & knob scars. Sound quality unaffected (Pic 4) Pleased as Punch! BTW Iggy just got a brand new scratching post - which he seemed to resent, the spoilt so & so.
