5 starts for the product 0 starts for the instructions!
This is brilliant! My son (2yrs) is staying with my parents who have just decorated there spare room so they wanted to try him in a big boy bed as the travel for usually takes up half the room! I orders this one as it was advertised as long enough and it was brilliant! Really covered the side of the bed with enough room to sit and read his story at the end. My mum had put it right up to the top of one side of the bed to ensure he didn't roll out while asleep however I think if you moved it more central to the bed it would limit a child climbing out too. The mechanism works really well and folds down easily. It doesn't fold down exactly flat but near enough and this might be more to do with the bed as it has a little lip and not the guard to be honest. The instructions were rubbish! I have taken part in the none televised crystal maze game experience and was a master of logic however even this stumped me! In the end I just looked at the pictures and identified each peice and then just used my own common sense to put it together. I had to re-just it as I have got it folding down the wrong side but that was a simple enough mistake and easy to fix just un attaching the parts and then swapping out the two top poles! It works on a nipple system so easy to clip together and then depress the nipple to unattach it. I'm pleased I put this up prior to giving it to my mum as I think she would have struggled if following the instructions as they really are not clear but the item items is good really well made and long enough to feel confidant to support my child. When we come to getting a big boys bed I will definitely get another one for our house. Also it came in a massive delivery box so not only did we get a bed guard but we also got an airplane too :)

Large cotside
Very good product but a little fiddly to assemble & you have to take it apart again to store it.

Sturdy and tall
Works well my king size bed and my 7month old even stands up and leans on it no problem.

Fantastic, safe and effective.
I’ve bought two. One for my house and one for my mothers for when my daughter stays over. It’s a must have for toddlers that are in a phase of bed sharing. It’s easy to assemble, incredibly sturdy and such good value for money.

Uncertain on purchase, but contented
First things first, it's a guard rail for a toddler. Safety is of course important. My 2.5 year old turns 360degrees numerous times throughout a night, sitting up and falling over face first into whatever is around her. Talk about heavy sleeping! Anyway, what was key for me when making purchase: 1. Approx 1.5m rail (longer than most) 2. Sturdy design (ie. able to support weight of a toddler leaning against it), yet 3. Not too sturdy to the point where my daughter would bash in her face if she fell against it! I then was cautious about negative reviews featuring: 4. Assembly 5. Folding feature not working How it performs? 1. Re: length. Length of 1.4m. I'm satisfied with a tiny corner where she can crawl out herself during the night if so inclined. So it's a win from me. 2. Re: Sturdiness. After taking our daughters mattress into account, the height is somewhere around 35cm. My daughters >90cm so it doesn't even come up to her waist. For a test, I went to pick her up, but then backtracked at the last moment. She came towards me with arms open and then fell against the guard with somewhat full weight. The guard supported her weight and kept firm. Now, most people just want a guard that will prevent a baby/toddler from accidentally rolling out of bed during the night. This certainly does that. However, as my daughter sits/stands up in her sleep and then falls over, I wanted something which would keep her in the bed even in that sort of situation... After my somewhat off-the-cuff test, I'm contented that this guard will achieve my requirement. We've so far used it for about a week and all good at the moment (no falling out of bed). 3. Not too sturdy to cause pain: The frame is somewhat cheap (like a kids set of football goal posts), but completely fine for the job. I sure didn't want wood or steel! The material is also simple enough. I guess it may rip in time? But I'm expecting at least a years' usage prior to worrying about risk of that happening. Some comments however on other posts. I tend to read negative posts prior to a purchase as it allows a risk adverse approach. I want to reply on two points commonly made: 4: Installation. I easily read a dozen posts about this being a nightmare to install. How!!?? I admit that given the apparent ease of assembly I didn't even look at the instruction manual, so can't really comment on that. But seriously!? It's a 1.4m x 0.5m frame. Obviously the short ones go on the sides and the long ones go on the top and bottom. Voila, done! Who needs a manual to explain this? 5: Folding feature not working: I also read several posts saying that the frame doesn't collapse to the 180degree angle shown in the picture... Guys, you've just put it on the bed the wrong way! Turn the rail around and then voila, problem solved :) To be fair, this one did seem counter-intuitive on set-up. The bottom corner has a protruding bulk at the joint. You'd think that this would be safer going into the mattress, but actually these little protrusions point outwards. They're actually the buttons that you need to press to fold the rail. So yeh, if you've got the problem with this not folding, just turn it around and problem solved. Consequently, this is totally fine for my needs. I'm somewhat dismissive towards the negative reviews which I read, and I wouldn't advise to 'not' buy it.

Pricey but worth it.
This was not easy to put together, I will admit I struggled and also put the drop-down bit the wrong way, but left it as it was too (pulled my hair out moment) stressful. But once done and on the bed, it was perfect, nice to look at and feel and nice quality. Lovely and big for a double or kingsize bed for an autistic child, teen, or adult who needs to be up against something but can't have the bed against a wall.
