Buy 70s Dinner Party: The Good, the Bad and the Downright Ugly of Retro Food by Pallai, Anna (ISBN: 9781910931387) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Highly entertaining and absorbing - This is a wonderful book, perfect as a gift, or for one's own amusement. It's absolutely fascinating seeing photographs of these crazy 1970s creations, and the fact that these images are actually from that era gives them a dated look, with garish colours exacerbating the ridicule. There are actually some dishes which sound reasonable to prepare and eat (though it's not a recipe book) - so in a sense there is an additional element to it. Every dish has an amusing summary text, and in my case the recipient of the gift laughed heartily through the whole book. Very nicely done, and highly entertaining! Review: Back to the 70's - As a child of the 70's this book took me back to it. Watching my Mum make some of the most strange and unusual foods not only for family gatherings but for my birthday parties, yes I always got the cheese and pineapple hedgehog but also the lemon pigs surround by different shaped paste sandwiches, strange jelly creations that could give you nightmares. My mum still had all her old recipe books, Supercook Magazine until very recently. This book is great for anyone who grew up watching Fanny Cradock and the Galloping Gourmet and remembers a time when food was not for eating but for looking at and wondering what on earth it was!

Present for my wife
My wife is a chef, and this gave us both a giggle as we remembered the good, the bad, and the ugly of 1970s cuisine.

Blander than a plate of SMASH
This isn't just any book about 70s food. This is a truly mean-spirited collection about 70s food. The 'book' is a series of photos, each one accompanied by an oh-so-clever sneering tweet that fails to raise a smile. Pitched as humour, not cooking (it isn't a recipe book), or social history (it isn't that either), the only grin it can possibly have elicited must have come from the author who somehow persuaded a publisher to turn a fifth-rate Twitter account into such a lamentable collection of dross. Save your money; visit the Twitter feed instead. Better still, save yourself the disappointment of scrolling through unfunny tweets and Google image search '70s food and make your own captions instead. Guaranteed to be an improvement on this sorry excuse for entertainment.

Wonderful nostalgia sharing with friends the dinner parties we gave in the 70s
All good! Hours of chat with similarly aged (77) friends. Did we REALLY make such dishes. Yes, and thought ourselves in the front line of modern cookery

Total rubbish
I should have read the reviews. Bought this for a friend who wanted to follow a 70's theme for her golden wedding party. The photos are OK but there are no recipes. So it was not much use.

I think this makes a great Christmas present
I think this makes a great Christmas present. With photos of classic 70s meals, it's witty and disgusting at the same time. Humour and horror in equal measures. Probably not a good idea to try out too much of what's on offer but well worth the money for the entertainment value.

I ordered four of these and none have disappointed. Great gift :) Very small book that everyone grabs for when it's left laying around.

The 70’s had some Wild snacks.

I'm surprised this book was offered on Kindle. I trusted that if it was on Kindle, it could be read. No. But furthermore, the images chosen are not a true representation of food of the '70s. This looks kitsch and laughable now. It was kitsch and laughable in its day. Very few people really cooked this way and offered it to guests. Don't expect an historical analysis from this book. It's only there for derision and a laugh.
