All 3 usb ports on my laptop are dead. i have tried everything to fix the issue and wonder if this might help? i get no error message, just nothing.

Unlikely - if the ports are dead plugging this into a dead port won’t make it live. I assume you’ve tried uninstalling the USB hub and drivers in Windows (assuming you’re using Windows) and then seeing if the computer auto detects USB devices on re-booting? (In Windows 10 under Settings - Devices - USB you can try Updating USB drivers. In Windows 10 type Device Manager in the search box on the task bar, you’ll find USB controllers at the bottom of the list - right clicking on any of the three devices under this heading gives you options.

Is the cable 6 inches or is it 6 inches in total, from end to end including the ports? Thanks.

Neither... it is 6.7 inches long including the ports. The cable between the ports is 3.4 inches long. Hope that helps. Good quality bit of kit for easier access to car USB port.

Looking at this because all my laptop ports are 3.0's & refuses my printers wire as it says its a 2.0. Does anyone think this will solve it?? Thanks!

I assume from your question that you mean that your printer is not recognised at all by your computer, not that you get some kind of error message. I have seen many of these kinds of issues with USB 3.0. In my experience USB 3.0 is not as reliable as USB 2.0 in respect to connectivity. As others have already pointed out connecting your printer's USB 2.0 cable to your laptop's USB 3.0 cable should work. But that is sometimes only theory. I have had cases where connecting a USB 3.0 device with the USB 3.0 cable that came with it to any USB 3.0 port would not work, but if I used another USB 3.0 cable it always worked.What I would suggest first is to try a different USB 2.0 cable if you have one. Do other USB 2.0 devices (e.g. a USB stick) work on your USB 3.0 ports? If that is the case you could try a USB 2.0 extension cable first (not USB 3.0). This StarTech USB 3.0 cable would be my third choice. Although (again) in theory it should not make a difference I have found adding an extension cable can make a difference with issues like yours. I suspect your problem has to do with the USB 2.0 plug not making proper contact with the USB 3.0 connector. Have you tried connecting the printer to a different computer (if you have one available) and does that work? If that works it is almost certainly the connection between the USB 2.0 plug and the USB 3.0 connector.

As the title suggests there isn't a lot to say about the product really. It seems good quality and does the job as intended. I have no problem with the length of cable as it is as it is. It isn't supposed to be used as an extension but to save the ports on your device from repeated plugging in and unplugging USB plugs.

Firm fit

I have a 256 GB memory stick inserted into the USB port on my router acting as network storage. It was a bit of a lose fit and started getting random data corruption. The problem I believe was with connector on the memory stick. Inserting this product between the two seems to have solved the problem with a firm fit both ends. The product in general looks of good quality. I also have one inserted more or less permanently in the front USB socket of my desktop computet to save ware and tear on the computers USB connector.

Very well made, nice length to extend and/or protect a laptop USB port. Didn't quite work out the way I wanted it to, but nothing to do with the product itself, it is excellent, and works fine. If you need a short USB-A extension, this is a great product for the price!

Got an awkwardly placed USB port in my vehicle glove compartment. This extension makes hooking a usb memory stick very easy unlike before. It is short and works well for the space needed. It is firm so it does not bend and is easily damaged. Pricewise it was very reasonable. Delivery time was same day. A+
