Q: Is the bag machine washable?

Q: Is the lid removable?

To remove the lid from the basket, one would take a seam ripper to cut the thread that hold the lid to the basket. Then it would be removed from the basket. You could if you like place the lid on top, or not. So if you want a basket that has no lid ever, you could remove it and never use it again. The way that it is made now, the lid just hangs off on the back side and you could just let it hang and never use the lid. And if at any time you want to begin using the lid for the basket, it is simply hanging off the back side. This could work either way. It is a very nice basket as is.
