3 x Garlic Bulbs ' Solent Wight ' Allium sativum (Spring Planting) - British Seed Garlic - Plant Now - Free UK P & P (3)

Bulbs were plump and in good condition when they arrived. Surprised they were from China, which led me to doubt their provenance. All the individual cloves germinated well in November, and survived the British winter in North Bucks. Now in late May they are developing flower heads (scapes), which leads me to the conclusion that they are definitely not Solent Wight - the reason being that Solent Wight is a softneck variety (as opposed to hardneck), and as such does not produce flowers. I'm sure that the garlic bulbs produced will be good, and good value for money, (hence two stars, not one) but if you are particularly expecting the Solent Wight cultivar then beware. Spend a bit more cash and buy directly from a British garlic farm.

Took a little longer to arrive than I expected, but they were well packaged and there was even a little love bracelet gift inside which was a nice touch. The bulbs looked to be in good condition and not damaged or mouldy. I planted these immediately on arrival which was mid July and a little later than recommended. I hope to have a late crop for over winter but not sure how that'll work out. I'll update this if I remember. All in all a good product.Update: so I was hoping for a winter harvest but that didn’t work out. The good news is I am going to have an early summer harvest as the bulbs set early and overwintered well.Additional update.I have held some bulbs over from my original harvest and have successfully used these for a 2018 harvest. I posted some pictures below to show the quality of these.

These 3 garlic bulbs arrived from China! I read the description of British seed garlic with free p&p in UK and assumed they were locally grown. They also smell as if they are slightly 'smoked' so I am not sure what to think.Obviously haven't yet planted so can't review the end results but I do wish there was more transparency about all this Chinese merchandise on Amazon UK!

This is the second order of this item, the last lot were rotten but due to the price I just threw them away and put it down to bad luck, however I reordered and the next lot is bad too, mouldy, musty and rotting also starting to sprout. Delivery time is weeks and then they arrive like this. If there is a charge to send them back I won’t bother but I am very annoyed and unhappy, do not use this item.

Great product that I have used before from this seller. Planted immediately on receipt of the item and the plants started to show six days later perhaps due to the warm early Sept weather.

Am a novice when it comes to garlic growing but after seeking advice I placed my order,they arrived very quickly and well packed,they were already separated into individual cloves ready for planting which I liked,anyway a month after planting I have had 100% success in germination and they are growing well,looking forward to harvesting them later in the year.
