Depending on your use-case...this is a no-brainer alternative to more expensive mirrorless DSLRs.
In my quest for enhancing the video quality of my streams and video conferences, the Elgato Facecam Pro has emerged as a surprisingly effective solution, offering compelling value when juxtaposed against the hefty investment of a high-end mirrorless DSLR. It also works brilliantly with my Elgato TelePrompter. It bridges the gap between affordability and performance with commendable finesse. The Facecam Pro delivers crisp, vibrant visuals that significantly elevate my online presence, a feat that, until now, I assumed only a pricey DSLR could achieve. Certainly, a mirrorless DSLR might offer superior sensor size and lens quality, enabling exquisite detail and performance in low-light conditions. However, this comes at a substantial cost, not just in terms of pounds, shilling and pence; but also in complexity and the need for additional gear like lenses. In contrast, the Facecam Pro integrates seamlessly into my setup, requiring minimal adjustments to produce a clean, professional-looking video. Its software, while offering depth for those who wish to dive into customisation, remains accessible enough not to intimidate the less technically inclined. Moreover, the practicality of the Facecam Pro cannot be overstated. Its plug-and-play convenience, combined with Elgato's user-friendly software, means I spend more time creating and less time tweaking settings. This ease of use, coupled with the noticeable uplift in video quality over standard webcams, makes the Facecam Pro a wise investment for improving video presentations without breaking the bank. The value proposition of the Elgato Facecam Pro becomes even clearer when considering the total cost of ownership and learning curve associated with a mirrorless DSLR. For creators, streamers, and professionals seeking to enhance their video quality without the complexity and expense of DSLR setups, the Facecam Pro stands out as a smart, effective choice. It offers a balance of quality, convenience, and affordability that's hard to beat, making it a preferred option for those looking to make a significant impact on their video content without the hefty investment of a mirrorless DSLR.

Needs a powerful PC to get the best out of it.
This is a fantastic camera, and the software that comes with it is feature rich. Picture quality and auto focus is incredible compared to an older Logitech model I was using before, and the out-of-the-box settings didn't need modification from default in my environment to get crisp picture with rich colour. This webcam is probably is the most powerful webcam I've seen, and while it's not cheap for a webcam, I've only ever seen better quality streaming output from a significantly more expensive mirror-less DSLR camera setup at a mates house... but there again he does control lighting in his environment rather than streaming in the gloom. This purchase has future-proofed my webcam needs for many years to come. I love it. It should be noted that it doesn't have a microphone. I use it alongside a Wave-3 dedicated microphone so that's no drama for me, but may have been a deal breaker if I was just swapping out my old Logitech webcam which did have a microphone (even if I muted it). Oh and one final thing to note, after initial testing on my main 'gaming'/productivity machine, I hooked it up to a video capture PC (an old i7 with a Nvidia 1030 low profile GPU in it) that my lad uses to stream console/iPad games, and noted that the Elgato software removed/greyed-out several 4K features. I haven't worked out whether that was based on the old underpowered GPU (which is normally fine for a rig that just basically captures gaming streams) or whether it was related to swapping the USB-C to USB-C cable that the camera came with, for a USB-A 3.0 to USB-C cable. So to get the best out of this high-end webcam, you'll probably need to run it on a device with a gaming GPU which has an available USB-C port and a dedicated Microphone.

Very disappointing compatibility for £259
RYZEN 9 3900/Win 11/64 bit/AMD 5700XT - I was hoping the facecam pro would add to my growing Elgato ecosystem. It didn't. The camera comes with a USB C to C lead only (no adaptor for USB A). No privacy cover. The software continuously requests a USB 3.0 input - my PC has 6 - none of them will work with this - and yes - they are USB 3.0 and 3.1! Camera Hub software is for NVIDIA users only - nothing for AMD. The camera works with my USB-C port in my laptop, but despite updates, firmware updates and 90 minutes of wasted time at my desktop PC, this is going back. I have an OBSBOT Tail Air - much better compatibility even with its own quirks. It is USB 3.0 too. Pretty disapointed. I hope the Prompter is better - but I'm not sure how confident I feel about this now... Update: after much messing about I bought a usb a to usb c 3.0/3.1 cable (none supplied with the camera), and it now works. This isn't clear anywhere...come on elgato, supply a usb a to c adaptor! That said, great camera, excellent quality for streaming and office computer based video recording. Works seamlessly with prompter too.

Elgato Facecam Pro!
Took forever to come, but that was DPD’s fault, not the seller or Amazon, works amazing, so many features, can customise with the app and add filters etc, the picture looks unreal with good lighting and is adequate with natural lighting, even with the monitor lighting it still shows the face perfectly! Very very clean camera! Would buy another if it broke, even with the price tag!

Very smooth 60p but Elgato should do some more work on the flesh colours
Overall very good quality, it does tend to get warm but I placed a little fan on top so that's fine now, the only thing that I am disappointed in with this camera is colour reproduction, specifically flesh tones, it either seems to be too brown or too yellow (and I am white, not that pale) - this may work for you, check some demo videos but I find the flesh tone from an iPhone to be much more natural than out of this camera, please do some more work on this Elgato, adjusting colour temp in the settings does not really fix it. This is the highest resolution and smoothest webcam you can but but the face looks wrong and I'm sure it's an easy fix on their end, it needs a firmware update to address this . . . .

Came from a Logitech 4k Brio and was looking for an upgrade, This Elgato Facecam Pro has the worst white balance of a webcam I've every experienced and especially at this price point. Orange is red, and the white balance in the Camera Hub application don't do the term white balance any justice it makes things worse. It's really really bad! Just can't get a good picture. The Noise in the image is also really noticeable. You see the camera has potential but you will have to use LUTS in OBS, and they will not work for normal webcam calls. Fix it Elgato!

The Elgato Facecam Pro has completely transformed my streaming and video conferencing experience. The true 4K60 resolution delivers crystal-clear visuals, making my content stand out with professional-grade quality. The Sony sensor combined with advanced light correction ensures that I look my best, even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. What sets this webcam apart is its DSLR-style control, allowing me to fine-tune settings like exposure, white balance, and field of view directly through the Camera Hub software. The wide-angle lens captures more of my background without distortion, adding depth to my streams. Integration with OBS, Zoom, and Teams is seamless, making setup a breeze. While it's on the pricier side, the investment is justified by the exceptional build quality and performance. If you're serious about content creation or seeking top-tier video quality for professional meetings, the Elgato Facecam Pro is worth every penny
