Bring your patience and approach with an attitude of fun. I play several instruments but never have played a bow instrument. I like the violin for its romantic sound but don’t want to crook my neck in one direction. So, I chose the cello for the beautiful, deep resonance. Plus, it sounded so cool on the “Wednesday” show. I love self teaching. However, cello’s a different animal. Everything matters and no frets!. I watched videos like everyone says, very helpful. This book is well organized, nothing’s wasted. He wants you to move along, get exposed to different, basic aspects. He teaches one basic music reading too. One works on fingering, bowing, play a melody; he even times your practice out for you. Listen on the audio how it sounds. That really helps. This book appealed to my task driven, time spent, organized mind. I enjoyed it immensely, even memorized several of the tunes, practicing them over and over, so they sounded half decent and cello-ish. Get it and have fun, but it takes practice and consistency. Whew! Finally, if you can, get a teacher. I’m a self taught kind of guy but a teacher, even 30 minutes a week, was a game changer for me, huge. Other advice: get a tuner or use an online tuner. I used both, clipping a small one on the bridge which lit up green if I was on the right note. Rent your instrument. Use a cheap mirror to watch yourself. Get several beginner books to work out of. Work on playing a tune you like. Watch lots of teaching videos and real cellist playing. Don’t practice when tired. Be expressive, just enjoy no matter what. Good luck, I’m learning along with you. Review: Highly recommend for hobby !! - This was helpful for me as a very new hobbiest in my 40's. Tab is also very helpful when you just want to tinker around with learning any new instrument just for fun. Great for Self learning along with YouTube videos.

You Will Play the Cello
Learning to play cello? Bring your patience and approach with an attitude of fun. I play several instruments but never have played a bow instrument. It will help you learn to play Cello, One recommendation though...
This book will help you on your way to playing Cello. However, the free audio tracks that go along with it are numbered for example: 1.4A Fingering 1 and 1.4B Fingering 2 in Soundcloud. In other words, you get confused fast about where you are in the book and which sound examples match up. My solution was to go through the book and write the corosponding numbers down with the excercises. This took about an hour and a half but it is well worth it to have the sound excercises match the audio. Well worth it otherwise, I've learned some of the basics really fast and if you devote time to it you'll be able to play some songs!

Don't Count on it!
I realized that playing a cello in 14 days was hyperbole, but I bought the book anyway. It's got some helpful instruction and online support, but unless you're a prodigy, 14 days with this book won't get you far. I've gone to a live teacher and use the book for some of the exercises.

14 days? No
If you are new to cello and don’t have a music teacher…get another book to accompany this one. But so far I like this book and it covers a lot. I won’t be finishing in 14 days. lol. (Also note there are a lot on YouTube videos to supplement your study)

Disappointing
I am a beginner and this is not for me. Couldn’t find basic information that I needed. Will return.

Way below my expectations. You can play cello in 14 days in your dreams. This book does not help you at all. My advice is not to trust this kind of books. There's no fingers table to understand exactly where to put your fingers, there are even typo. I bought this book only because I know a bit how to play cello and for a beginner this book is a useless...and I would say even for people who knows how to play cello well.

I am using the Kindle version and didn't check the tracks available for download, but as soon as I hear them, I will come back here to update my review. The method is good and if you have or not a teacher, you will advance as long as you keep consistence. I am very happy with this purchase. Thank you very much.
