I have to say it still seems a bit too much but I couldn't be happier with it
I was a bit concerned about paying around £15 for essentially a block of wood with a bit of leather stuck to it. I have to say it still seems a bit too much but I couldn't be happier with it. It's a perfect size to accommodate almost any size blade. The compound will last practically forever and is pretty high grade stuff. Similarly the leather seems very high quality. The logo looks nice but it is recessed into the leather so you loose functionality there but it really isn't an issue. Highly recommend.

Great product
Does exactly what promised. It will make the edges of your knives shine well enough to fool a surgeon. Actually no fooling around since knives will cut without any notiable friction after you finish your sharpening with this strop. I used an 8000 grit whetstone before the strop and a 3000 and a 400 before that if necessary.

Good product!
Really good strop! Does what it is supposed to do! 😊 Although the paste that accompanies the strop is pretty poor and dry not like the green paste you can buy elsewhere! But good deal anyhow!

Expensive for what it is but a good quality product.
Expensive for what it is but a good quality product. £15 for a bit leather stuck on a wooden block seems a bit much but it is quite good quality. Much better than buying cheap to get a piece of junk. Used it to hone up my carbon steel knives, I already keep them very sharp but using this brought them up to a hair shaving razor standard. Very please with the product and it's quick delivery

Takes time to 'bed' in
I use this on Falkniven knives, and it works a treat. Requires a reasonable amount of compound to be applied, then it needs to bed in till the surface of the strop turns grey with use. Use a reasonable amount of thumb pressure, so that the leather bends and provides a convex shape to match that of the convex grind on the knife. Once it's grey and using reasonable pressure, then it will provide a proper, factory like, razor edge. Excellent stuff

Not Entirely For Me
Not bad, but a little small, I think, for most purposes I need it for, i.e: kitchen knives, tools etc. Wouldn't be bad for whittling knives, though.

Poor quality product
Thin piece of rough leather less than a mm in thickness attached to a lightweight piece of wood not much better than an offcut. I paid more expecting a better quality product but even for 5 pounds I would have been disappointed. The packaging was good though and has gained an extra star.

Leather Strop
Great introductory strop and paste for a very reasonable price. If you are new to stroping like I am it takes a while to get the strop loaded with paste and perfect the right technique. However persevere and you will achieve razor sharp edges on knife, axe and machete blades.

Very old woodworker who mastered sharpening/honing plane irons, chisels, turning tools, and knife blades a long time ago. I have made my own strops many times. I just didn't feel like digging my contact cement and leather out before a trip, and wanted something portable that fit into a travel bag for hand carving stuff. The leather is very thin and not roughed enough to take much compound. Easy fix with some sandpaper, but beware how thin it is. I thought that I might have to lop off a few inches on the bandsaw to make it fit into my carving pouch, but didn't. It's perfect size for what I needed. Could almost fit into a cargo pockt, if you were so inclined. Reputable company (so, higher price, bleh). But, it'll last a while. Just wish they'd've gone with a higher grain of leather, since it required sanding. No biggie.

I’ve used other strops with my Flexcut and Mora knives before and they did sharpen omay. This strop is sensational and basically brings them back to brand new. Super sharpening super easily. Having the backing timber on the strop means I can leave it next to where I am working and go back to it quickly. Planning to buy a spare soon. I highly recommend it.
