David Suchet stars as Agatha Christie's enigmatic, eccentric and extremely intelligent detective Hercule Poirot. From England to the Mediterranean, accompanied by his elegant and trustworthy sidekicks, Captain Hastings, Chief Inspector Japp and Miss Lemon, Poirot pits his wits against a collection of first class deceptions. Includes all 70 episodes plus many extras. DVD Extras 1) David Suchet on the Orient Express Documentary David Suchet investigates the mystery, history and romance of the Venice-Simplon Orient Express. David goes behind the scenes to meet the people who keep the fantasy on track. Relax into the glamour of the Roaring Twenties, and find out what inspired the classic Murder on the Orient Express. 2) Murder on The Orient Express Based on the Novel by Agatha Christie - Behind The Scenes A behind the scenes look at the filming of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express--including interviews with David Suchet, the cast and crew. 3) Being Poirot Documentary David Suchet embarks on a very personal journey as the man behind the moustache explores Agatha Christie's most enduring character. In this documentary the actor who has played the iconic detective for a quarter of a century takes a poignant trip to discover and reveal the history--and appeal--of his most famous TV creation. Following clues from the books, David travels to Belgium as he attempts to unlock the mystery behind the great detective, discovers what the Belgians think about one of their most famous sons and, back in Britain, allows the cameras to film exclusive footage of his last ever moments playing this most iconic of TV characters. 4) Interview with David Suchet Review: David Suchet IS Poirot, just as Agatha Christie described the character - an absolute joy - This collection is great value for money, and in my view these early episodes - series 1 - 3 - are the best of the bunch, very true to the spirit of Christie's writing, even if the glamour of the wonderful sets, costumes, vintage cars and locations are something of an embellishment, but a very welcome one. It's also great that the characters of grumpy Chief Inspector Japp, loyal but rather dim Hastings, and the scarily efficient but stunning Miss Lemon are in nearly all the episodes. Also, unlike another reviewer I found, the second episode of 'Peril at End House' was there on mine, although it wasn't listed separately - just be patient and don't rush back to the menu list - it will continue automatically. There are thirty 50-minute episodes, which ran on TV from 1989 to 1991, with pristine prints which show up the glorious colour to terrific effect, and excellent sound quality. The 9 discs on one spool might annoy some people, but it didn't bother me. They play in English and it's easy to turn off the Dutch subtitles. However, sadly, there are no English subs for the hard of hearing. The aspect is 4.3, with black borders on each side. In a recent interview, David Suchet said that his brief was 'to be Agatha Christie's Poirot' and that's how he played it, remarkably successfully I would add. No wonder his performance has been described as a global phenomenon. He also says that he gets letters from people in hospital, or those who have recently been divorced, saying that it got them through the dark times. I certainly agree with that. So, what do we do now that we've watched them all - easy, just watch them all again, of course. Review: towatch over Christmas just gone as it wasn't on any ... - I bought the disk apeicifically for Hercule Poirot's Christmas, produced by ITV in 1993, to watch over Christmas just gone as it wasn't on any channel over the period. It is one of the two Christmas Poiriot mysteries, (the other being The Theft of the Red Ruby, also known as the Adventure of the Christmas Pudding). Worth watching. Well produced and a great performance from Mr Suchet as usual.

No subtitles
It arrived within the time frame. David Suchet is perfect as Hercule Poirot. The only disappointment is that this DVD does not have subtitles which made it less enjoyable to watch for hearing aid wearing family members.

Draws you in - as addictive as it always has been!
The product I bought was the Season 1-9 box set - some of the reviews seem to be for other products. The deal is the main menu is in Dutch (it's an import) but otherwise the speech etc. is all English. Sometimes you get Dutch subtitles but you can just turn these off. As for the shows, well; David Suchet combined with his sidekick and some beautiful quaint music draws you in effortlessly - I found it hard to stop watching!

Ok but not wow ...
Delivery was correct & on time. DVD (box & disc) is in good condition, but quality of the recording is very poor (droopy colors & very bad audio !). Hence, not worth the money as the gift it was supposed to be ...

Faultless.
Superb production values. The one set on Rhodes as good as any cinema film, the period detail fantastic and so much incidental going on at the same time. The 1930's remarkably authentic: costumes, Art Deco, transport. Mind you one particular taxi and its fat driver crops up again and again. 30 x 50 minute episodes. A Dutch import, English with on off Dutch subtitles. Like to know what they made of English colloquialisms?

Bought used for a bargain
I mostly only but DVDs as used now as I very rarely get one with any impairment. This was in that category - great condition and great stories so all I can say is real value for money but buy used to save lots.

THE KING OF CLUBS/THE DREAM
I ORDERED THIS BECAUSE I REALLY ENJOY "AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT" AND I'VE WATCHED ALL THE FILMS IN MY POSSESSION AT LEAST FOUR TIMES! I LIKED THE TWO EPISODES ON THIS DVD. I'M GLAD I WAS ABLE TO FIND IT!

Excellent scénario, très bien joué, une des meilleures intrigues d'agatha Christie. Les paysages égyptiens sont très beaux. Je recommande.

I love Poirot, David Suchet is amazing. I am starting to build my collection and this was another box set. It arrived within 3 days, in great condition and i have already watched all of the episodes. I have more box sets on my wish list and soon (hopefully) will own all the Poirot collection.
