Electrovision Y057 Helping Hands with Magnifier Lens & 2 Articulated Arms, 60mm

I used to own one of these years ago and it was invaluable back then. I haven't needed to do any soldering until recently where I needed to tin and join lots of wires together to extend them. These helping hands made this kind of task a breeze and far less frustrating than trying to hold the wires in place with weights and tape!The build quality is OK but it's not an expensive item. I would say the base is a tad on the light side and is easy to knock over. The magnifying glass is made of plastic and will easily scratch so I've decided to keep mine in the box when it's not in use. The crocodile clips work perfectly and can be moved around and adjusted to hold wires and small PCBs etc. in place whilst you solder them.Pros:- Good value- Flexible crocodile clips- Built-in magnifying glassCons:- Base is a little bit light and easy to knock over- Magnifying glass is made of plastic and will scratch easily

The reviews did look too good to be true for such a low priced item, but it only took minutes to convince me that this is indeed a bargain at the price.This is a very strong METAL item and NO PLASTIC.Actually looks like a scientific instrument and does everything that I need. It is very sturdy on the heavy metal base and the crocodile clips work verywell being very easy to tighten.Great item at a perfect price. The wing nuts tighten easily and as yet I have encountered no slipping or loosening.

Very fiddly, and it dose not hold in place too well

I bought this item mostly for soldering andfound it quite helpful when repairing small things.A few times I discovered a magnifier quite handy when reading tiny symbols.Pros:- good quality materials,- great for soldering or holding things in place,- arms are well designed and very flexible.- descent weight makes it quite stableCons:- magnifying lens only x2.5Extra helping hand for £4 is a bargain.

Very handy for holding things in place while repairing or building ,I primarily use it while soldering and have found it very useful ,the magnifyer isnt the best but its usable the arms are multi jointed so can be placed in many positions and easily tightened, very good for the price

Very pleased with the item, particularly when I got it for £3.85 delivered from a marketplace seller! At that price its a steal! Well made for the money with a glass magnifier (2.5x) and its 0.34kg weight means it stays upright for the small jobs its intended for.

Works well, but can be fiddly to get into the perfect position, once in that position it is great however.
