This radio came with only German instructions but I eventually managed to find some information on line. It would not work on rechargeable batteries however and indicated low battery and then switched off even when the batteries had been fully charged. The tuning knob also kept falling off and the reception was very poor. I think that I had ended up with a faulty radio and sent it back after one day. I have since purchased a Tivdio which was a third of the price but much better in every way.

A top quality pocket size world radio
This radio really is small enough to fit in back pocket of jeans or a larger shirt pocket. Buttons are flush with face of radio and the tuning knob also has positive click steps both of which help prevent accidental operation. Reception on all bands is very sensitive using the built in antennas, in addition the aerial socket functions on all bands also which makes this radio ideal for medium and long wave broadcast band DXing as well. I especially like the digital bandwidth adjustments on both medium and short wave bands which help to single out radio stations. Electronic Tuning Mode is a real boon on this travel radio making finding all of the local radio stations a one touch process and they are even loaded into a temporary memory as well. Batteries last a long time and the built in USB charger works well. The headphone socket reveals just how good the audio really is from this radio when not held back by the small inbuilt speaker, with a 3.5mm cable to a Bluetooth speaker the FM stereo is excellent. One negative point is the tuning steps, slow or fast tuning is dependant on speed of turning tuning knob, a way to force 5 kHz steps to be default on medium wave would be a great improvement. Overall I am very pleased with my Tecsun pl-310et and would recommend it.

I know shortwaves... I have 4 handheld models right now, and an $800 desktop unit, and have had and sold many other top portable models by Pricy Sony ICF-SW7600GR , and Sangean AT 505.... and other tecsun models (PL380) This radio for its size, and price, with these features is simply exceptional. It is better than the Pl380 I had... better sensitivity and reception on shortwave.... and the buttons seem less "clicky" On a simple 85 foot long copper wire, with a clip on to the Antenna, this little thing is unbelievable for its size. FM is amazing.... Picking up 21 stations on a long wire, when a car radio is like 7 or 8 stations around here. I can't comment on AM, but I was hearing faint American stations from Prince Edward Island on the east coast of Canada. But I am not interested in the western AM stations, and never listen to it.... someone else will have to comment. It is to the point that really, unless you are hard core.... This radio will do all I want a portable SW to do. Anyway, you can't go wrong with this radio. Also if you want to try shortwave, its more than a good starter.... you probably wont need another radio ever. With what i saw in performance last night.... My large tabletop (Grundig satellite 800 Millennium) will be sold. I simply wont need it any longer. I don't know about longevity or durability, but it is a solid build..... I used it an hour and the battery is still at full bars... So i can't comment on battery life yet, but my experience with other Tecsun radios is that battery life is simply a none issue. Anyway, i say buy it... No need to pay more for SWL. At $54cdn, why bother getting a cheaper one. This is real bang for the buck. This isn't just a great starter radio.... It is so good on reception on SW with a longwire, and on FM, the vast majority of you will not ever need to upgrade for SW listening at all, ever! This radio is the best portable I have ever used yet. It is just as good as my $300 Sony ICF-SW7600GR was, and better than my Sangean AT 505 I sold. After one evening of use....Amazing little radio..... There simply is no reason to hesitate in my opinion.
