Simply - Upholstery Fabric Spray Paint - Navy Blue - 8oz / 236ml

Used this to dye the hood and apron on an elderly (40+) Silver Cross Tenby pram which was brought out of storage for a new grand-child. The navy blue hood had faded very unevenly and was almost grey on one side but the vinyl-backed fabric was still strong. As the cost of re-covering was unrealistic, I tried this spray paint. It was excellent. I took a lot of time to mask off the body-work and followed the instructions carefully - several light coats with drying time in between. One bottle was ample to cover hood and apron and the results are really good. The colour did "bleed" slightly into the white and blue braid trim on the hood but because its stitched on I don't think it could have been prevented. Overall I'm absolutely delighted.

I purchased this product to dye a cream cotton arm chair. As the seller described the item as Navy I expected the results to be at least close to a Navy colour. It is not - it looks as if some one spilt blue ink on my chair. Also I have needed 5 cans to even cover the fabric. The seller has said that "a can covers approx. 2 sq metres depending on the user and the fabric/surface" - no it did not ! It looks terrible. The chair is now ruined. I wish I had never bought this product ! I have contacted the seller Pearls Dry cleaners who are un willing to offer any refund or help as to what to do about my chair. A very expensive disaster !

Dyeing fabric is not easy and is often a messy process, but this aerosol product is excellent for certain purposes. I used the navy blue colour to restore some dark blue curtain linings which had suffered severe fading from sunlight. The results have been excellent, restoring a uniform dark blue colour and so saving an expensive set of curtains which had become unsightly. Some prior experience of spray painting is useful when it comes to application. It is easiest to apply to a vertical surface and can be applied in two light coats to provide complete cover. Expect some drops of dye to fall from the application nozzle when spraying, so use waterproof protection around the working area. I would recommend wearing lightweight disposable gloves if you want to avoid dyeing the skin on your hands. I expect that this product would also work well in stencil applications. However, rather like spray paint, unless you are an expert don't expect it to transform the colour of a large item like a sofa from, say, cream to dark green or blue as it would be very difficult to produce an even colour application. Finally, test the ability of your fabric to absorb water before you buy. If a drop of water is immediately absorbed, the dye will also absorb well. It will not work on fabric treated with any form of stain protection, as these typically repel water.

Amaaaazzzing This baby helped me save my navy fabric sofa which had major stains, there was even a bleach stain ! I ended up tinting the whole sofa to evenly blend the colour using a spong :) very happy looks NEW

Sorry I am unable to review this product yet as I will not be using it for 2 weeks. I bought it to try on the inside of my boat cover so don't know how it will work. I know it is not for intended use but I will inform suppliers of outcome.

Rubbish product,did not spray properly or change colour of item I was painting, just 'disappeared'.

Yes it was good I re sprayed a dolls pram although I did need to purchase another one ...and it does make a mess id rather have something you could just paint on

The colour was nothing like navy which is what it was supposed to be. It turned out like a Bermuda turquoise

I used this paint to recolor a wing back chair that was white with pink and blue stripes. It took four coats to get the paint to the right level of color I wanted but it doesn't look or feel like it was spray painted. When I tell people that the chair was painted nobody believes me and I have to show them the can I have left. The color hasn't rubbed off on anything when sitting in it (once it was dry). I painted one coat every 24 hours until the last coat and I left it sit for 72 hours until I knew it would be dry. One thing that caught me off guard when using this paint is that the nozzles collect paint in them and as you use the can it will drip. The way that I got around this is when I sprayed, I used my other hand to rub the color into the fabric. I made sure that I washed my hands very well before and after. The paint did not stain my hands but just as with any other paint, it did stay in the creases of my nails for a few days while it wore off. Over all, I have another chair to paint and will be using this paint to do it again. I highly recommend this product! Thank you Simply Spray for the great product!

It was difficult to remove the blue tab. After removing it, the paint dribbled out of the nozzle, on my hand and the product I was trying to paint. It was totally ineffective. Very disappointed they do not take returns, as I have another new can, which I am not going to use. Totally ineffective .

Perfect. The place I work for only allows you to get one hat a year, but the work I do is labor intensive and the chemicals will leach the color out. This restored the color perfectly.

Excellent product when it sprays. I bought three pack of the dark blue to cover light mauve cushions on chair and tan cushions on the seat and back of desk chair to make them match a denim sofa. The first and third can I used worked great but the second can stopped spraying after using only about 1/4 of the can. I thought the product was great when it worked properly and was also please at how easy it was to clean off your hands. As for softness, once it dried I can tell no difference from the original fabric! You do need to shake the can well to make sure it comes out in a spray not stream. Also, I recommend trying to clean the fabric as well as you can prior to at least lighten any stains. I used a dark color so stains were less visible but if you look at the fabric in full sunlight you still see differences in the color in places where the stains were. Despite the issue of only one can working, I am going to order one more can color a fabric footstool to match and just hope I get lucky that it is one that works

Covers well. But the spay leaks down the bottle as you spray. And the spray nozzle doesnt immediately stop when you release. It kind of dies down slowly leaving thick spots of paint like turning off water to a hose. Its not a well spray bottle.
