The Artisan Heritage Fire Kit – Hand-Forged Carbon Steel & English Flint in a Premium Top-Grain Leather Pouch

Firstly the leather pouch is of good quality, robust enough for the job but attractive too. The steel and flint are great, no problem in getting a spark on to the supplied char cloth. Even the tiniest spark is enough to get going , encouraged with gentle blowing. It all adds up to a very satisfactory kit, I am really pleased with it.

Awesome piece of kit the striker and pouch are both high quality. I don't get people compiling about the char cloth tinder its just a small sample probz just there to test the flint and striker out the pouch is quite small you can just fit the flint and striker in no room for tinder but that's fine for my needs

Belt pouch and fire tools perfect for scouts needs more materials but lots of space to add in extras

Arrived brand new which includes charred cloth I take this everywhere with me the charred cloth is easy to light no issues making a fire the steel is a good quality would recommend to anyone

Not only would this be an excellent gift, it works exactly as it should so any bushcrafter could happily buy it for themselves.

I bought it as a gift for my Sister who is a Forestry School Teacher, liked the look of this set with the natural flint and leather case. Sister loves it, I got major brownie points for picking an awesome gift!

I have to say it is exactly as described, it just doesn't look very substantial when it arrives. I have bought this as a gift, and it would have been nice to have something included - even just a slip of paper - to explain it being hand forged, how to use etc. As it is to the untrained eye it doesn't look any different to the £8 kits. For info the stone doesn't fit in the pouch - again there is nothing in the ad to suggest that it does, that was an assumption on my part.

Received my kit today and immediately tried it out. It sparked very well and I had made fire fairly quickly, no success on my other tinder but within a few seconds with the charcloth - which is what I'd anticipated. Overall great product, overall satisfactory. The only negative I found is that the flint split really - really easily. I wasn't striking very hard, and going at an angle that caused the most sparks with minimal effort and my flint just about halved in two in my hand. I actually ended up with a splinter in my thumb from it. The chunk that came off might be useable on it's own, and the remaining part still functions albeit less comfortable to hold because of the reduced size. Not sure if this is something that will affect everyone, and being a natural resource it's impossible to predict that this will happen. In spite of the splitting stone (again, natural material) I am still giving this product a 5 star review. It functions precisely as it is supposed to and the leather pouch (with belt loop!) is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. I would recommend this product and may go so far as to gift it to my outdoors-ey friends.

You wanna bring your survival kit to the next level? This is a sure fire way to do it! (sorry couldn't resist) The leather case is beautiful. The flint stone is large and will last a good long while. The fire steel is beefy and well made. The kit comes complete with a small tin of Char-cloth, and as a little bonus a jute twine bag to carry everything, or you can use it as fire tinder. I really like this kit so much I purchased two of them!
