The photos and layout keep you engaged and the book itself is not too bulky or heavy to carry. Good supplement for a course
I bought this for my husband who started a beginner's Spanish course. It's clearly very good as a supplement to the course but I don't think using just this book alone would be any good for anyone attempting to learn without the course structure. The book is quite thorough and detailed with good explanations, and the supplementary audio is really good to use along with the book. The photos and layout keep you engaged and the book itself is not too bulky or heavy to carry.

Good book
I am a complete beginner and was recommended this book by my teacher. We use it during the class and use some of the exercises for homework. It is very good and contains lots of useful information. This edition doesn't come with CD's so not suitable for someone learning Spanish on their own.

As described
Just what the teacher ordered. Mine did not come with the CD inside it. Some of my lucky classmates got a free CD in theirs. I had to buy the CDs seperatly. You need the CD to fill in the listening sections. I like the book. It's clear and covers a lot of sections. Pasos is what the college uses to teach Spanish so I can't compare with other books.
