3.5 stars for this rounded up to four. These were used in a Krups Pixie Clips machine, in a soft water area. The recommendation is that these be used every thirty cups or so, but given that I'd had my machine for several years with no noticeable deterioration in delivery of the drink, I won't be doing this. I bought a box of five capsules that came with a comprehensive multi-language instruction leaflet. There are several safety warnings about handling the capsules. Make sure the water tank is full, as you will need a lot of water. They are used just in the same way as a standard capsule, with the difference that the button for an espresso is pressed first, to deliver a foaming cup of cleaning liquid. After waiting for one minute, the lungo button is pressed, then the used capsule is dropped in to the capsule container like any other. I used the used cleaning liquid dispensed by the machine to clean two stained cups before pouring it down the sink, it worked beautifully. You will then need to repeatedly flush the machine by running it without a capsule in. Even after dispensing some 400 ml of water a cup of fruit tea had a slight white film. The taste wasn't affected, but do be aware. I haven't noticed any positive or negative changes in flavour or dispensing speed. I followed the instructions and cleaned the used capsule container carefully afterwards, disposing of the capsule carefully. I'll use up the box of capsules I bought, but I'm not in a hurry to use the next one.

I'm not sold that this worked. Tried using it, and chemical stuff came out but when I ran with just water after then it still wasn't clear.

I purchased these after perhaps an embarrassing amount of time owning a coffee machine that uses pods. I regularly maintain my coffee machine, including cleaning and descaling, but no where in the manual did it suggest needing to clean the part where the actual coffee pod is used - which perhaps is one of the most important places! 😅 These are easy to use, instructions are clear, and help to clean the part of the machine that is forgotten about. They seem to work well, with you being able to see what they are removing from the machine in the water. I’m not sure I can taste a difference to my coffee, but my machine had started having a few running hiccups before purchasing these, which I thought may have been linked, and those issues have stopped now. Price wise, I don’t think they’re the cheapest or the most expensive, they seem pretty reasonable, and I tend to use them at the same time as descaling my machine, so I know all cleaning and maintenance is done on the machine and I don’t need to worry, the frequency of this I can’t recall as my machine tells me when it’s needed! Overall great item that I will continue to purchase to clean my machine and keep it functioning for as long as possible.

I got these out of curiosity, not expecting to see much as I run a descaler through 4 year old my Latissima Touch regularly as the machine is heavily used, but the machine has ben struggling a little of late and with a replacement already ordered I thought why not see what happens. On first use I was shocked at the colour of the water that came out (nearly black below the foam), and even more so by the rinse water afterwards and the little lumps that were coming out!!! Even though flow rate was improved a little (the poor wee machine is clearly on its last legs after an estimated 15,000+ pods), I used another couple of cleaning pods with lots of rinsing in between to get as much out as possible as I was disgusted by what I saw. It makes sense thinking about it, as you would clean a portafilter on a conventional coffee machine so why not the are between the pod and the spout on a Nespresso machine! I honestly wish I had discovered these years ago and will be using them in my new Creatista. Not every 30 pods as in the instructions though, perhaps monthly.
