Lovely gift for green fingered people

My mother loved gardening, and I would always marvel at how she revelled in watching plants grow from scratch. She passed away recently and when I saw this I thought of her and I wanted to try it myself. I am definitely a novice, but the different components all come in neat little packages with a very succinct and clearly explained instruction booklet, that even I could easily understand. I decided I would start with the Red Maple seeds as it reminded me of my recent trip to Japan and it was very easy to follow the instructions and sow the seeds. I will now wait patiently (or at least try to!) for the next few weeks to see the seeds germinate and can’t wait to see my beautiful Bonsai tree created from scratch. Then I will move onto the Dawn Redwood, Judas Tree, Mountain Pine and Cornelian Cherry Dogwood and create a little tree for each room in our house. I also have other friends whom I will be thoroughly recommending this product to, as it is so easy to follow and a brilliant idea for a gift. In fact I wish I had seen this before Christmas as It would have been a wonderful gift for a lot of people that I know!

Looks like a good kit. Bought one for myself and one as a gift. The kit is well presented with two sets of what look like good quality shears for the job, and suitable things for the initial growing stage. Unfortunately my favourite seed variety (red maple) was not included and they provided a second pack of another type, with a note apologising saying they had no more of them. I feel that if this was the case, it should be made clear on their amazon page. 4/5 of my packs had a good amount of seeds in as stated, enough to try twice. One pack only had 4 seeds in despite the instructions saying to plant 6 - so definitely not enough for a second attempt at this variety. Overall seems like good quality but with some quality control issues. I will update as to whether they grow well or not.

I can see that this item is currently unavailable, and I am guessing that this is just because demand is outstripping supply, so hopefully Urban Turnip will get that sorted soon. Why the high demand? - product is worth six stars if that was possible. There are more seeds for every variety than you need to start a wee family of bonsai trees. All of the equipment is there, and just follow the instructions. My experience so far? - purchase was followed up by an email offering extra help and information. I'm a complete beginner and started with Scots pine as advised. Have discarded 2 from the warming bowl (non-viable), and planted 6. The experience is already worth what I paid, and I still have the other (more difficult) varieties to try out, using the stratification kit included. I'd like to edit with updates and photos as the bonsai journey continues if anyone else is interested? Edit 1. Scots Pine - lost patience and planted all the seeds - now have 7 (SEVEN) Scots pine seedlings up in the pot. Also planted all of the Dawn Redwood seeds at one go - and I have one Dawn Redwood seedling growing, waiting for his friends:) The more difficult ones with stratification required will need to wait until this weekend . Really enjoying this pack.

Absolute terrible product planted all my seeds correctly and nothing grew

At the time of writing this it is still too early for any of the seeds to have grown, so this review wil mainly be talking about the contents of the box. I have had several Bonsai tree kits in the past and can honestly say that this is one of the best I've seen so far. The box is strong and well printed, it clearly shows the types of trees you can grow with this set (Red maple, scots pine, judas tree, wild orchid, dawn redwood). Inside the box you get a pack of each type of seed, mini growing pots, soil pellets, plant markers + pencil, plastic bags, tools, and an instruction guide. The quality of this set is very high, nothing feels overly cheap, you even get far more seeds than you will actuall need, so if you fail at growing anything the first time, or want to try growing more, you will have the oportunity to save some seeds for later use. The instructions are printed in a small book and have been written in multiple languages, it is written clearly and everything is easy to follow. As I mentioned at the start it's too early for my seeds to have grown yet, but I for the price I would recommend this set if it's something you have been wanting to try out.

Por un precio muy asequible trae todo lo imprescindible para empezar y el libro de instrucciones, que también viene en español, viene claro y fácil de seguir El envío fue muy rápido, todo llegó en buen estado. Vinieron las 5 clases de semillas prometidas, y en cada sobre veían entre 10 y 12 de cada especie, más que suficiente para probar Por lo pronto he hecho el primer paso, lo de meterlas en agua caliente 24 horas y el segundo, lo de echar las semillas en el compost y maceta reciclable que viene, y meterlo en la bolsa para ponerlo 2 ó tres semanas en un lugar fresco, Está claro que hay que tener paciencia y esperar un par de meses para saber si da resultado, pero lo recomiendo totalmente. Viene todo lo necesario para cultivar bonsais de 5 especies y unas explicaciones claras y con fotos perfectamente entendible, por un precio estupendo

Acheter pour l’anniversaire de mon papa. Il a adoré ! Kit complet avec les petits panneau pour noter le nom des arbres, ainsi que les petits ciseaux de taille pour entretenir les bonsaïs. Il y a une dizaine de graine par arbres.

Ich habe das Bonsai Baum Set bestellt und es wurde auch sehr schnell zu mir geliefert. Im Set enthalten ist alles was man für die Bonsaiaufzucht braucht; kleine Pflanztöpfchen, Kompoststreifen und fünf verschiedenen Samen. Ich habe die bepflanzten Töpfchen gut feucht gehalten und aufs Fensterbrett gestellt, innerhalb von 2 bis 3 Wochen sind bei mir die ersten Keimlinge gekommen. Es ist schön zu sehen, wie die kleinen Pflanzen langsam wachsen und man freut sich schon richtig darauf, dass sie groß genug werden, sodass man sie das erste mal Beschneiden kann. Daher an dieser Stelle von mir 5 Punkte! :) Tolle Sache für alle Leute die schon immer mal ein bisschen Gärtnern im Japanischen Spiel betreiben wollten.

Kit intéressant pour ceux qui aime les plantes. Les accessoires comme les petits ciseaux sont sympas mais sans plus. De même que les petits pots et terreaux. Mais ça suffit amplement pour ce kit de démarrage. Le livret fourni explique bien comment faire et il y a plusieurs sorte d’arbre différentes avec assez de graines de chaque. Mais la nature est difficile ou c’est peut être moi qui ne suis pas doué mais j’ai eu très peu de graine qui ont germé malgré que j’ai suivis les étapes indiquées. Heureusement qu’il y en a assez dans le kit pour ré-essayé. Il ne reste plus qu’a avoir quelques années de patience pour faire de ces graines, des bonsaïs.
