We bought these as part of my young son's therapeutic diet, to help manage his severe eating disorder and allergies. We'd tried the big brand readily available in supermarkets first. I'll admit, at first, I wasn't sold on the taste. On their own, they're definitely not great, so don't be put off by that. Once I'd tinkered with adding them in as a cooking ingredient, I was sold. Then we looked into more affordable bulk options and came across these. Taste wise I think they're identical, but better value for money, and we now have them on subscription. We now use them in almost everything, not just for our son. In sauces, soups, bolognese, or sprinkled on top. It adds a flavour that can be almost cheesy, nutty, mushroomy - perfect for white sauces! - or sometimes we chuck it in when the recipe is just missing... something.

Quite good value for money

As we follow the vegan/ plant based diet as much as possible we find that this is a necessity. Firstly it comes from a reputable brand- Whole Food Earth and the packaging pouch is 100% recyclable. Yeast flakes have a slightly cheesy taste to them and we often garnish our mashed potato or pasta with it for that flavour. It can be added to almost anything and gives you a natural B12 boost. Because this is weighed at 1kg and flakes weigh next to nothing you end up getting quite a big bag! All in all, this bag presents good value and will be finished within the month no doubt!

Nutritional yeast is a staple in our house, and this is great value and somehow seems to last ages and saves us a fortune compared to when we used to buy smaller tubs. Lovely taste, can be mixed with so many things (great in beans, soups or sandwiches), and so nutritionally good for you- can't go wrong really!

As a vegan, I really like nutritional yeast and often use it in my meals which adds a nice cheesy taste (I also use it to make my own vegan cheese) and helps me keep my balance on vitamin B12. Even though I was surprised by the size of the 1kg bag, I found myself using it. I am very satisfied with this product as the quality is really good, same as with the price per quantity!

This is the answer to a vegan's wish for cheese - ish flavour. It's good value buying such a large pack and the taste and quality are just as good as the brand sold in a tub. Same nutrition and texture as the other brand and having such a large quantity you don't feel too guilty by being generous with it on whatever food you wish to have some cheesiness. Fast delivery as well.
