I've had them all - THIS IS THE BEST KNOCK BOX!
I originally sold this knock box with my old Sage Barista Express coffee machine, as I had decided to upgrade to a more expensive and better looking polished Motta knock box to match my Lelit Bianca. However, as nice as the Motta is, it is too big, not particularly well designed and doesn't come apart for easy cleaning like this Sage knock box. I then tried the Grindenstein range, and I didn't like them any better. Next was the Home Dept knock box - Errr, MASSIVE! Lastly, I tried a standard stainless steel knock box with the intention of getting a wooden box made for it, but that's also too big and has a cheap looking knock bar.So I'm back to square one and have just purchased my second Sage knock box. I admit that I failed to appreciate its perfect size, great compact and sturdy design with removable bar, and top-notch build quality. I do wish Sage did a polished version or at least a black one, but the brushed silver doesn't look bad. This works well with my new 58mm Lelit Portafilter (as it did with my Sage 54mm portafilters) and I like how the top is covered with rubber to protect the portafilter from scratches (a feature I overlooked before). I feel like I've been reunited with a long lost friend after an utterly pointless quest. To conclude, If you are looking for the best knock box currently available (for home use), it has to be this one.

You think you don't need this, but it really helps
You think you don't need this, but it really helpsYeah... who needs a fancy little box for dumping our pucks? Why not just use the trashcan? I have a small one near my espresso machine. Isn't this a total waste of money? These were my thoughts when I noticed this little item when I bought my espresso machine. Then I found that the filter basket kept falling into the trash when I knocked the edge. The grounds sometimes stuck in side, so I made do with a bowl near the machine and rapped the portafilter near the edge of the sink, the puck sometimes fell in right and I scooped it into the bowl. Sometimes I had to dig the whole thing with a demitasse spoon out and my little boy was only too willing to do this job, he enjoyed it! I didn't.Finally, I ordered this.. its just so pleasurable to knock the puck out of the porttafilter! ;)It works so well, just rap the porta in the middle of the hard rubber bar a few times, sometimes once and the puck falls out, sometimes 2 or 3 times, but it does fall out neatly, almost all the timeIt's a really tiny box, not like in the product photo, which makes it look big, but holds 20 pucks easily for meIt's easy to wipe clean, rinse under the tap and there you go! You don't need to put this in the dishwasher, but I guess you can.The bottom is rubber and doesn't slipReally well made and works well tooYou think you don't need this, as I did, but it does free up time ( just a bit) , but this is mainly about avoiding frustration, especially if you're making more than 2 espressoBuy!

I've been using the Sage Knock Box, and I love it. It's made my espresso-making process so much easier and cleaner. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves coffee. Here are some of the pros of the Sage Knock Box:Sleek, stainless steel designDurable knock barRubber feet for stabilityRemovable knock bar for easy cleaningHere are some of the cons of the Sage Knock Box:It can be a bit priceyNot as large as some other knock boxesOverall, I highly recommend the Sage Knock Box. It's a great way to keep your home barista setup clean and organized. The Sage Knock Box is a must-have for any home barista. It's a sleek, stainless steel bin that makes it easy to dispose of used coffee grounds. The knock bar is durable and easy to use, and the rubber-type base keeps the bin in place on your countertop. The knock box is also easy to clean, with a removable knock bar.

Protect your waste bin and use this instead!
Once you have a used portafilter full of hot, used coffee grounds, where do you put them? Some people try and knock them out into the kitchen waste bin, with the inevitable damage and eventual destruction to that bin; it's not designed to take that sort of punishment. This little Sage box, allows you to give it a mighty thump to dislodge the coffee grounds into the box without damaging anything (although the noise can make the cat jump 😼)It's OK to clean; just twist the knock bar and remove it, then gently empty the contents into your undamaged kitchen bin, and then give it a bit of a wash in the sink. Put the bar back in and the jobs a good-un.I paid about sixteen quid and although expensive it shows no sign of falling apart so I'm hoping it's money well spent. Certainly cheaper than replacing a damaged kitchen waste bin.
