Match and Spell

Bought while on offer for new grandson, will put away for when he's older. I have others in the 'orchard' book range and am impressed, will be buying one or two more

Great for my 3 year old, he’s really starting to recognise sounds and putting CVC words together.

Orchard toys hold a special place in my heart, over the years I have bought many of their products for my now 4 year old! We are just branching into letters and this is fab for the job. It has different cards with one or two letters missing from the word and picture of what the word is to help little ones figure it out. On the reverse of the card is just the picture and then spaces for each letter. The letters are big enough to not be too fiddly for fingers, big or small and they are colourful and appealing to the eye. There are enough different boards that you can play this a good few times without having to repeat the words (also kids get pretty fed up after one or two words) and the boards are 3 letter words and 4 letter world. My only issue with this game is that there isn't one of every letter of the alphabet. I had wanted to use the letters to make an alphabet with my son to see if he could remember the letters and the order but there are a few (granted that's not many but when you're trying to make an alphabet, you do need one of every letter!) letters that are missing. While you don't need them for the words in this game, as a tool for teaching kids to spell and learn letters, I feel that it is a but odd that they weren't all included! Overall, it is a super helpful game for teaching kids letters and spelling without them realising you're helping them learn! I would have given it 5 stars had it had all the letters or the alphabet

My child struggles with spelling but this has made practicing at home fun! Such a great game and lots of variants! Highly recommend

P&P Firstly, as with almost all cases with Amazon, packaging and delivery of the product was excellent. Product: As the title says, a brilliant product aimed at parents which is the perfect introduction to phonics and letters. Unlike other products which contain capital letters, this item contains small letters which enable the child to learn, recognise and differentiate between small and capital letters. The product contains 2 lengths of words, 3 letters as a starting point and 4 letters for when the child is comfortable enough to move on. The cards are double sided, one side has a picture of the word & the letters printed on the background. The opposite side has a picture of the word and blank spaces for the child to choose the correct letters provided. As the letter tiles provided can be universally used, you are able to present the child with additional words and items for them to attempt and learn to spell. Overall the product meets the expectations of the buyer and is versatile enough to be used beyond what's contained inside the packaging.

My 5 and 6 year sons old love this activity to further help them learn their letters and spelling. They don’t respond well to flash cards and since they are more of a hands on type this activity did well with them.

We wasted no time opening this after receiving our package. Having purchased this brand before, I knew the product quality would be awesome, with good sized, sturdy pieces - perfect for little fingers. What I like about the item is it has room for growth. Ie on the card it has suggested 3 & 4 letter words, then when you flip it over it is just the picture with no letters. The company also has a link to where you can download more worksheets should you tire from the ones In the pack. My 4 year old opened the packet by herself and was setting the cards up before I even got a chance to read the instructions. I think it is a good product for a pre schooler, but a kindy kid might find it too simple if they have already learned to read / write. My 6yo wasn’t interested in this ‘baby’ game (she doesn’t realise we have the next one up ready for her - muhahahahha). Tl;dr: good, well made product for preschool/ new kindy kid.
