Amazing game!! Love it
Fantastic Party Game for Family and Friends! We've had Codenames for a while now, and it's become one of our absolute favorite games to playespecially during weekend family dinners or when friends come over. It’s fun, clever, and always leads to lots of laughs (and some friendly competition)! The graphics are great—clean, bold, and easy to read. The overall design makes the game feel polished and modern without being over-the-top. The card quality is impressive too. They're not flimsy or too thin, which is something I really appreciate since we play it often. They’ve held up well over time. What we love most is how the game brings everyone together. Whether it’s just four of us or a bigger group, it’s always a hit. It’s a perfect balance of thinking and guessing, and it never gets boring since the words change every time. Great value for money Highly recommend for families, game nights, or anyone who enjoys a smart, interactive party game!

Clever word game suitable for small parties and families.
I'd heard on a popular board gaming web site for geeks that this was a particularly good game, ideally for larger parties but also playable for even just two players. I actually own a similar independently created card game called "Trix" which has a similar concept of linking words. The basic idea is that 25 cards are laid out (out of quite a large selection of double sided cards) each with a noun on it. A team consists of one person who is trying to convey a message/hint to their team members. They can provide a one word clue and indicate how many of the 25 cards they feel relate to that one word. Only 6 or 7 of the words actually are wanted by each team, the rest are either the opposing teams' cards or are innocent bystander cards. One word card is an assassin and loses the game instantly for any team that picks it. I won't give you the entire rules now, they are available online anyway if you want them. This game is clever in the way it takes a simple game that takes minutes to learn and is basically a form of charades with more intelligence and direction, and themes it nicely into a spy game. When I first got it, I couldn't wait to give it a go, so I immediately tried a 2 player game (not recommended particularly) and this was just OK and I could see why although it's just about playable, it's not a good idea. I then tried it as a four player game and it was already much much more enjoyable, we played it 6 times in a row (each game usually lasts about 20 minutes or so) We haven't tried it yet with more players, but it is immediately obvious why adding more players would make it very interesting and add an element of argument/discussion within teams that could be entertaining as each team member may have a different opinion of how a word relates to another (does Star relate to "Flag" more or less than it relates to "Fish" or "Night" for example) All in all, this game deserves its good reputation. It's not a sit around for hours board games with loads of complicated rules that you only understand after finishing the game. It's a quick and easy, get up and running fast and enjoyable family / party game.

Perfect game for a group of friends that know each other or even good as an icebreaker
When i first played it I didn't know the group of people I was playing with and this requires a set of general knowledge or to know one another. It was great as an icebreaker and definitely brought be closer to knowing my team. Since then I got the game for myself and played it with people I know and it was so much fun. The only downside I can think of that one side of the card is really hard to read (as you need to arrange it in a 5×5 matrix, one side facing one side of the people the other facing the other side of the table) and I wish they had both side written the same way: big text on white space, not the cursive brown text.

Great strategy game for all
Fabulous game. Gameplay involves a fair amount of thinking and patience but had everyone wanting to play another round. It’s fairly quick (took our average brains about 30-40 mins to complete a game) and comes in a handy box for portability. All in all a good brain teaser, not great for if you want to have a laugh - no comedy element

Years of fun - easy recommendation
Great fun for all levels - even managed to teach this one to mum and dad and now they request it every family get together! Rules are straightforward, you're trying to link words together on the cards with just one word and it's funny to hear what people come out with. It can be challenging but that's part of the fun. Needs to be played at a table so you can put all the cards out, so not one that can be done on the sofas!

I purchased Codenames as a gift for a friend, and I can honestly say it was a home run in every way! The game itself is a fantastic blend of clever wordplay, lighthearted competition, and team strategy. Whether you’re a first-time player or a seasoned board game enthusiast, it’s quick to learn but offers endless replay value — every round feels fresh and different. One of the things I love about Codenames is its versatility. You can play it with just a few people for an intimate, puzzle-solving experience or with a larger group for a hilarious, high-energy party vibe. It works equally well for game nights, holiday gatherings, or even casual afternoons when you want something fun and engaging that gets everyone talking and laughing. On the delivery side, I was extremely impressed — the shipping was blazing fast, and it arrived in perfect condition. The box was crisp and undamaged, the cards were neatly sealed, and everything felt brand new and high quality. It’s the kind of presentation that makes it feel special right out of the package, so I didn’t even have to wrap it much to make it gift-ready. Overall, I can’t recommend Codenames enough. It’s clever without being complicated, social without being chaotic, and the quality and speed of delivery just made the whole purchase experience a 10/10. If you’re looking for a crowd-pleaser that works for almost any group of people, this is it. Totally recommend

Fun game to play with my partner. Good for pairs and want to play a game but don’t have a group of people around. Quite challenging too (in a good way)

My husband and I really enjoy playing the original version of Codenames with our friends, so we also bought this version designed to enhance the experience for just two players (or more,) not knowing what to expect. To our delight, Codenames: Duet is even more fun! While the basic theme and method of play are similar to the original game, we like that the way to success is truly cooperative. Whether it’s just the two of us playing or if we’re playing the game with others, the goal of the teams is to identify agents (the good guys) and assassins (the bad guys) so the good guys can prevail. The game is easy to set up and the rules are not complicated, so plays can start quickly. Included is also a way of playing (finding agents in different cities) that extends cooperative play but doesn’t put stress or pressure on any one player like the game Scotland Yard tends to do. Altogether, Codenames: Duet has been designed to provide an experience that encourages discussions of strategy and gameplay that are enjoyable for everyone and it doesn’t take hours to play. We recommend this game for couples, families and groups of people who prefer cooperative play where every player is important and involved rather than cutthroat competitions where people are only in it for themselves and their fellow players are essentially the enemy. With a Codenames: Duet, a relaxing and friendly time can be had by everyone. I pay full price for all of my Amazon purchases and I rarely write 5 star reviews. Codenames: Duet truly deserves 5 stars!
