Just the right size
It is a great light. I have it tucked in my sewing machine cabinet. I like that I can adjust the brightness of the light, pull the neck to illuminate what I need, and that I can also plug in my phone to charge.

Great light, easy to use
I really love this lamp. It's so easy to turn on, adjust the brightness, and turn off. It's easy to adjust to illuminate whatever work you are doing, or just for reading.

Great reading light
Very high quality. I love it. Produces a wide spectrum of adjustable brightness levels. It will set on a side table and produce more than sufficient light for reading. I recommend it.

Best desk lamp I've ever owned
This is definitely and by far the best desk lamp I've ever owned. I use it in my home office. I've had their Verilux desk lamps before, and every time a daughter would go off to college, I found that they always have wanted to take my Verilux lamp with them to college. So, this is the third Verilux I've purchased for myself since the two earlier Verilux lamps that I've owned became my daughters' desk lamps throughout their college years and afterward. The Verilux lamp has a clean uncluttered look with modern contemporary styling. It has a nice, flexible goose-neck that allows the user to easily adjust the head if the lamp and location of the light. The light is very easy on the eyes. The lamp base also has an integrated USB charging port. The entire lamp is very well made and well-packaged for shipment; In my opinion, it is perfect for desk-area lighting and emits plenty of light for the working area of a typical desk. It provides a very comfortable white light that is perfect for reading and overall eyesight at the desk, no matter what the task. It turns on and off with the touch of a finger, and can similarly go to brighter or less-bright lighting, also with the touch of a finger. Where you need to touch your finger for those changes is clearly marked and visible on the lamp's base, and quickly becomes instinctive. When I ordered my most recent Verilux lamp earlier this week, it was via Amazon Prime and it was received by me the very next day after I placed my order. I'm very happy with my Verilux desk lamp and I'm a loyal, long-term Verilux customer.

Good lamp, but not for me
Oops! My bad! I meant to order a light therapy lamp as suggested by my doctor to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Naturally this isn't covered by insurance, so I had to find one I cover out of pocket. I didn't just want to buy the cheapest one out there since they looked pretty dubious, and after a few reviews, the brand most highly recommended was Verilux. Verilux makes several full spectrum lamps, some for light therapy; others for tasks where seeing color accurately is important. Other lamps serve both purposes, and I thought that was what I was buying. Plus there was a coupon. While Verilux makes therapy lights cheaper than the one I thought I was buying, they just seem too small. They seemed like I would have difficulty positioning the lamp in the right position, and then, being a klutz, would probably knock it over. It still had to be portable enough to be easily moved from room to room (if I could just keep to one room, a floor lamp model would be perfect). This lamp is the perfect size. I plugged it in, and it works perfectly with just a light touch of the buttons to turn it on and off, and to adjust the temperature. There is a touch slider to adjust the ntensity or brightness of the light. What is an unique feature of the Verilux SmartLight lamp is that the temperature and brightness settings operate independently of one another. You can choose the warmest setting and then crank it up to bright, or have a very low cool light. Most lamps you either get a low, warm light OR a cool(daytime) bright light. The Verilux's flexible light settings are really neat in my opinion. Lights do set a mood, and a bright medium setting mimics a sunny morning. A low cool light reminds me of lighting you get sitting in the shade in the afternoon. You can play around with the settings to see which ones you like the most and makes a comfortable work space. Naturally, having the highest, brightest "full daylight" setting is great for color sensitive tasks like painting, coloring, needlework, doing makeup and nails, and even sorting laundry (if you ever found out after you went outside that you put on one black sock and one navy). The only reason I took a point off is because I actually have a couple of desk lamps in which I put even more bright color accurate bulbs in. One lamp actually can light up the entire desk area. The Verilux lamp light, like many LED lights, tends to light a very small or concentrated area. As a comparison, the Verilux's coolest (or whitest light mimicking full sunlight) is a high 5311K. My current lightbulb is 6500K, and the color rendering matches what I would see if I went outdoors on a bright day. The actual brightest setting on the Verilux is 501 lumens, which would be equivalent of an old 40W incandescent light bulb. Not very bright, but since the light would be concentrated to a small like a desk, coupled with a higher K, it would be good enough for a clear, comfortable light for reading and many tasks. My current light is rated at 1200 lumens. It's meant to mimic an old 100W bulb. Many of the rooms of my house are fairly dark, with only a couple that has some indirect sunlight coming in for short periods of the day. I do a lot of art and crafts activities where I need to be able to differentiate between extremely subtle variation of colors. The Verilux uses 18W of energy, which is fine. However, my current light is rated at 12W, one of the lowest I've found for that bright of a light. So, since I have better options already for desk lamps with lamp and bulb it is also in the same price range, if not a bit lower), and because I actually need a therapy lamp (and nowhere in the information flyers in the box do they even mention this), I' m going to have to send this back and exchange it for the Verilux lamp I should have ordered and pay the difference in price. However, I can definitely recommend this lamp to those needing a good all-purpose (except for therapy) lamp. It has a modern, clean design and a flexible neck that allows you to direct the light where you need it most. It is very easy to operate, and nothing to put together other than to plug in the power cord (included) into the base of the lamp. I just bought the wrong lamp for my purposes, so I need to exchange it. This is still a great lamp, so I do feel good about ordering from this company.

Perfect task lamp
I decided to take a chance on this lamp for two reasons: The Ott light series are much more expensive and This lamp is a perfect fit for my art desk and drawing. It is lightweight, compact, simple and stylish. It has touch of the finger brightness (LED) control and even a color control : bright white, golden, and rosy - all very subtle but good for working in different mediums. It actually has a USB port on the side. The gooseneck is very flexible, just wish it were about 2 inches longer. Long plug-in cord, so I did not have to mess with exrtra cords, etc. There is no way to change the bulbs as it is a sealed life-time light. I am thrilled with this light. Reasonable price and all the features I could want in a small task lamp. I say task because it is so efficient that it could be used for artwork, embroidery, jewelry-making, lettering, quilting, and any handicraft/art project that requires bright (yet soft) light for close-up work! The company has come out with a wonderful product. Thank you!

Delivers a great bright light!
It has the brightness of daylight which make it easier to do my artwork which averages about 5"x7. So everything s good!

I wanted a full spectrum lamp for my work office. I've had one in my home office for years, but have taken a new job where my time is split between work and home. The variety I have had at home (Bluemax) was no longer available, so I went hunting for something about the same. This one is better! My one at home is getting pretty old -- it is a fluorescent bulb and it is pretty heavy and clunky. The Verilux is lightweight, but sturdy enough; it delivers a nice, bright light. It also doubles as a webcam light for meetings - I just move it behind my laptop and it provides a nice, natural key light for online meetings. I'm thinking I will retire my Bluemax and pick up another one for my home office.

Verilux is a long established company that manufactures seasonal and reading type lamps. I placed this one behind my 13-inch laptop and it really does make a difference. It's high enough to reach over my keyboard so my computer is totally covered. The plug-in cord and transformer are included. There are 8 levels of brightness and 3 types of luminosity, standard traditional light bulb, super bright sunny daylight, and another setting in-between. The controls are touch button and the horizontal lighting edge does not shine in my eyes. Granted, it's made of plastic, but it functions extremely well for studying, working, and just properly lighting your desk. Five stars.

Excellent light. It bends for easy adjusting. A solid base, doesn't flip over.

Has a dimming feature which is rather nice. What I miss is a soft guide light on the "on" and "off" button, to help turn the light on in the dark. Besides that, great

I thought I was just replacing the old Verilux lamp that finally stopped working, and I was disappointed to see that the neck attaches in the middle of the long end instead of at the short end like my old one. But hey, this lamp is so much better than the old one, and it turns out that the position of the neck is not a problem. I like that the base is smaller; it turns on very easily by just tapping a dot on the base; the variable and easily adjustable brightness (6 levels) is nice; it has three colour tones, which I only looked at briefly but are easily adjustable, then went back to the one it started at and have not bothered to change it; the light fixture is covered (probably not replaceable); and there is the built-in USB charger, which I have not used. Also, the power cord detaches from the base, maybe useful if it needs to fit through a small opening, as the 2-prong plug is quite large. The neck adjusts up and down; I don't think it twists.
