Sawyer Products SP544 Premium Insect Repellent with 20% Picaridin, Pump Spray, 4-Ounce

I purchased the Sawyer Picaridin spray for an extended backpacking trip, specifically because I wanted a highly effective repellent that would not damage my synthetic gear or have the harsh odor of DEET. The 20% Picaridin formula is the star here. It's a synthetic replica of a natural compound found in pepper plants and is widely recognized as one of the best alternatives to DEET. The performance against mosquitoes was excellent; they seemed to simply avoid landing on my skin. The protection is advertised to last up to 12 hours against mosquitoes and ticks and up to 8 hours against biting flies and gnats. While heavy sweating might necessitate a lighter reapplication after several hours, I found the initial spray held up remarkably well throughout the day's hiking. This is my favorite bug repellent as it’s not greasy and doesn’t remove finish off of plastics like the Off Deep Woods does. Repels mosquitoes, ticks, gnats and chiggers very well and does not make you sneeze 500 times during application. I recommend it to everyone especially to anyone hunting or who spends quite a few days in or around the woods or marshy areas.

Pretty good bug spray. I used this when I went to Costa Rica and it worked well. I did still get some bites but I found I had significantly less in comparison to people using other bug sprays. I think it was pretty affective for a non deet bug spray. It also was travel size so I could take it as a carry on. I had to use it pretty frequently and the two bottles almost lasted my whole trip which was about 3 weeks. Not oily at all and the smell is neutral. I liked it.

Brought this for a trip to the Philippines and it did not disappoint. Last time I went I had several bites but this time I only had 5-7 total after a two week trip. I tried to reapply around every 24 hours, after a swim/shower, and/or before sleep. I nearly used the whole 3oz bottle during the duration of the trip, which might seem expensive for some but to me, was worth it since I used it often and it was effective. The feel of the spray on skin may have been impacted by the overall heat + humidity I was in because it felt slightly greasy to me, though nothing unbearable. The smell is very mild. At one point on the trip, I saw a mosquito buzzing around me, failing to find a successful landing place. It had gotten to a point where I trusted the spray so much, I was out at night in shorts and a tank top. I recommend this stuff for sure!

This was highly recommended and lives up to the hype. never been bitten by a bug when i have it on, and we have a lot of mosquitoes with a creek in our back yard. Have to be conscious of orientation as it is a pump spray bottle, not an aerosol bottle, but I will never choose another bug spray over this stuff.

The 12 hour pump spray for the body is highly effective, no odor that i notice, and not visible on the skin. I recommend the product itself, but the delivery mechanism --this pump spray --I do not recommend. First, you must have the bottle vertical for it to spray, so when spraying yourself, your legs and your back for example, you cannot turn the bottle and or you will end up with the product all over your hands. in fact, every time I use it my hands are dripping with the product. So I recommend finding the same product in a different delivery format.

A MUST in tick and mosquito country. Just a few pumps needed for all-day protection.

This stuff works great! Used it instead of traditional bug spray during a weeklong summer camp with my daughter Scout troop… it comes with two caps. Make sure you keep both of them! It’s very liquidy and easily runs out of the bottle. If you don’t have both caps on, you might even want to bag in a Ziploc separate from other things… But if you’re tired of the way, traditional bug spray smells this one has no odor and totally keeps away the bugs I got zero bites plus it’s a tick deterrent as well

Did some research and this was suggested over spays containing deet. Used by myself and partner during two weeks in Costa Rica. Seemed to be very effective. We only had a couple of bites each while others using things like Jungle Formula had many more. It doesn't damage clothes or equipment, not sticky and no bad smell. One application lasts hours. Definitely recommend
