I work as a professional auto mechanic. I am an ASE Master Tech with advanced certification. I am always purchasing tools and where I can I try not to purchase Snap-on or other name brand just to save some money. When I purchased this set it was mainly just so I could have one bit a T-40 long bit to use when removing a Volvo thermostat housing. With this long bit it would save me a lot of work. So to be honest I didn't want to pay $25 for a set when all I wanted was one bit. But I also know that working as a mechanic the other bits will come in handy.Well I put the bits threw the real test of hard work and they passed. The first thing that I notice when I received the bits was the weight. They actually weigh a lot. But I know from experience that just because metal weighs a lot doesn't necessarily make it strong. This is where tensile strength comes in. If a metal is made with minimal tensile, then the metal will twist and eventually break. If the tensile strength is too strong then the metal will suffer fatigue and break. I am very happy to say that these bits did not twist or even break when torque to proper foot pounds. I was so happy and to tell the truth a bit surprised. I had assumed, wrongly, because of the weight that they would break.I am so happy that I purchased this bit set that I proudly display it on top of my Snap-on tool box and let every mechanic know what a great buy they are. This is one of those times when I find a tool that is less expensive then Snap-on or other name brand professional but still made to a high degree that they can be used by professionals. Whether you are a professional mechanic or a backyard mechanic I would recommend this set of bits. The quality far exceeds the price.

I mostly just use the torx bits. They're good but I stripped an end of the T20. Would still buy again though because this is really cheap for the extended bits.

If I was stranded on an island and could only bring two tools, it would be this set and my cordless drill. There are enough bits that the sizes cover nearly every screw I've encountered (the exception being the tiny pentalobe screws on the macbook). The length is awesome, not only for reaching tough places and getting the drill head out of the way, but also for making them harder to lose. Together with the holder they make a heavy and solid set, so you can just set it down in your work area and quickly find the bit you need without having to open a door to get to them. I wish someone would make drill bits in an open easy-access case like this.

This is an excellent set of long-reach tamper-proof bits. I was looking for the larger sizes, so the size range was not a problem for me. Some less than glowing reviews seem to want more sizes... So make sure you know what size you need before ordering.I think with the torx-only long reach sets there are more sizes than what this set delivers. I needed both torx and hex bits with holes to allow the tamper-proof pins in the fastners, so this set has some of both.The only issue is the tool holder has a firm grip on the tools, so they take some effort to pull out. But this is a good feature if you expect the set to stay together while rattling around in the tool box. The set is almost the size of a brick, so it will take up some space in the toolbox, and add a lot of weight.One note, the hext bits are only slightly chamfered. This will make them a little harder to insert, however for those screws with shallow heads or are partially stripped, these will turn the screw when other drivers might slip. I often use a grinder to remove the chamfer for this reason, so I don't see this as a bad thing.

Many products have housings closed with tamper resistant "security" fasteners that are recessed beyond the reach of standard length bits. Not only are these bit nicely formed hard tool steel, but they easily reached the screws I was trying to remove. I suspect that these customer resistant fasteners are used in order to reduce the possible manufacturers' liability--in my case possible electrocution from the high voltage of an electrostatic air filter. I knew enough to wear insulating gloves and discharge the supply capacitors before servicing the unit, so the $20 expense for even a single use easily paid for itself to avoid the $100+ replacement cost.The holder is flimsy, but does the job.Is it my imagination or are items made in Taiwan generally of better quality than those main in Mainland China?

These tools are made well and are very long. I had to use the grinder near the business end since the shaft I needed the torx drive to fit down into was of a diameter just larger than the T15 drive tip. I used a cordless drill to rotate the drive on the grinder. The two I ground down weren't perfectly straight, but the wobble wasn't much, either. It didn't make it difficult to hold against the grinding stone. I had to use moderate force to loosen the bolt and the drive didn't slip or strip out the head. I may not have a use for all the different security types of drives, but it's nice to know I can handle a lot of them. Good quality for the price. Great if you need a longer reach than most drives provide.
