This is a really nice canvas bag. There's a zipper on both sides so you can blow it wide open if you want or if you prefer getting in from one side or the other. It seams to have some waterproofing going on, but only enough to keep mist from soaking through. Any real rain would still be terrible. I'm 6ft 6in and 365lbs and still have room to toss in with blankets. It'll be colder than most sleeping beds and It'll be heavier than many of them. But I find a canvas bag more comfortable to sleep in as it doesn't clump up or restrict movement the way a nylon or nylon based material bag will. And it's big enough that if you really want to go out when it's really cold, you can always sleep in layers or with more blankets. Making these canvas bags a better fit for your sleep temperature. I personally like being a bit cool when I sleep and don't have the versatility in weather in a nylon bag as I do in canvas as the bulk of them are "rated for 30°-40°F" or colder as there's a lot of bulk in built-in insulation part of a nylon bag. This really is a better alternative.

I see a few reviews complaining that this is old tech... Don't buy something and then complain that it's exactly what it claims to be. For what it is, this is good kit. Not cheap, not technologically advanced, definitely not light, and very stiff due to the wax treatment, but good, durable kit. Just be aware that the bedroll in and of itself will not replace your entire tent, sleeping bag, groundcloth, and sleeping pad - you'll need a few wool blankets for that. If you buy the blanket AND bedroll, it'll work well enough for summer camping. I'd still throw a more modern sleeping pad in there for comfort, and a tarp to use as a rain fly. The bedroll straps have a lot of extra length in them, specifically so you can roll a blanket or two in the bedroll. If you're going to be going old school in fall or winter, there is no such thing as too many wool blankets.

Items were well made. Pricy and I hope it lives to its quality & price.

The thickness is perfect for durability and ease of packing. The design is great for folding in different ways depending on your pack room. Its comfortable on its own, but i bought a second blanket for more padding on tougher ground. Its the perfect size for one person.
