Love The Zoom, Many Other Features & Overall Quality
I had initially given this only four stars because the files have to be converted before being used with other than a GoPro editor, and the fact that there is No Remote Preview while recording. But after using it for a month or so, I decided to upgrade it to five stars because of all the cool features and improvements over previous versions. And with a Hero 11 upgrade as of 3/31/24, there is now a Remote Viewing Feature that has been added. I Like the zoom features very much, and the various settings for Maximum Quality, Extended Battery & Longest Battery. Also enjoy very much the many settings available for various screen formats, 1080p, 2.7K, 4K and 5.3K etc. I am not at all thrilled and very underwhelmed with having to convert the GL files before editing when using other than GoPro software, but willing to let that slide because of so many other good things about the Hero 11. The Battery performance is quite good, particularly considering how much power is needed to run some of the higher level functions. It overheated on a few occasions and turned off in the very warm weather, which is a nice feature when you consider it could probably get ruined if it hadn't turned off. Overall I'm quite impressed with the GoPro 11 and have been enjoying it very much.

Where do you start with one of the most popular products ever conceived?
I finally took the plunge after all these years by getting the Hero 11, and I'm happy to say that I'm not disappointed. The ability to record at high resolution is great. The ability to configure for frame rate, resolution, image field, and multiple other customizations is almost dizzying with how many ways to adjust it. I have alreay used it for one video of myself (using the head strap) successfully hunting a coyote. The picture quality is excellent, and it captured the entire hunt just as I had hoped. I have since learned that there is a preset that allows less of the "fisheye" effect when recording, so I have switched to that for most of my purposes. Using that setting, I am able to get about 75 minutes of uninterrupted recording time, and operating at this setting makes the video much less distorted at the (no big deal for the style of recording that I want) expense of a narrower field of view. Some things to know about the GoPro (or other action cameras) is that this type of camera can be susecptible to overheating, especially at max resolution and frame rate, with the camera moving (image stabilization working hard), and with poor or no air flow to cool the camera. I have not had any of those problems, but then I have been using mine in cooler climate and with moderate frame rate and resolution, but I wanted to inform anyone apprehensive about overheating that there are some ways to avoid that issue. I have researched the overheating issue, and here are some ways to avoid it: 1) Use the camera with good air flow or in a cooler environment. 2) If possible, run at a more moderate frame rate and resolution. 3) If in a very hot or poorly ventilated environment, don't run for long periods, as action cameras are mostly intended for videos of about ten minutes at a time. 4) This one is often overlooked, but a major way to help avoid overheating is to use the recommended class (speed) of microSD card that allows the camera to record with the microSD card able to keep up with the large volume of data being written to it, with GoPro recommending a U3 card. It's tough to go into all the attributes of what makes a genuine GoPro so popular, but to summarize the basics for of you who don't already know: 1) This is a very rugged piece of gear, with the bare camera (there are hard cases that allow considerably greater waterproof ratings) waterproof down to 33 feet. 2) The camera can operate at various resolutions and frame rates, allowing both time lapse and slow motion video. 3) It has replaceable batteries, so you can keep spares on hand for long recording sessions. 4) The lens defaults to an extremely wide angle view particularly useful for capturing events with fast-moving action or for capturing movement going nearly horizon to horizon; but (as mentioned above) the angle can be adjusted more narrowly for less of the "fisheye" inherent with wide angle lenses. 5) The camera body is ruggedized, and it has an integral folding mounting bracket to allow the camera to be attached to one of the huge number of systems that allow the camera to be worn on a hat, on the head via a strap, onto the chest, onto a tripod, to a gimbal, or to just about any other system that can be adapted to the now ubiquitous GoPro mounting system. Yes, this is an expensive piece of gear, but quality often comes with a bit more money spent, and I'm very satisfied with it. Two upgrades to this camera that I would recommend are to get a remote for it (GoPro makes one, but there are third party ones as well) and a silicon lens cover because. The lens covers available are held on by friction, and it's a bit of a mystery why GoPro doesn't include one. The main reason that I find the remote a worthy purchase is because it's particularly useful when having the camera mounted where it's difficult to activate and be certain that it's recording, and the remote will power the camera on without having to touch it, start recording with a second press of one of the buttons on the remote, and show the battery charge level of the camera and the time of recording.

Awesome! Durable desgn
If you are not planning an active extreme shooting, you'd better use an Iphone. But for the rest - it's GoPro, guys. Rugged and strong. Enduro battery drains a little faster, but it's ok if you are filming a 4K and higher. Definitely, five stars!

Works as expected after updating software.
After charging the device, I turned it on and it started recording video immediately. No buttons or anything would work. Every time i turned it on the same thing happened. I was about to return it when I thought I would download the app to my phone. There I was offered an update, which afterwards everything worked as it should. I was still wary, but I took it on vacation and it worked perfectly. Only issue is the battery door, which others have complained about. So, overall I am happy with the Go Pro. Good picture and video quality too.

Awesome recovery from >90 feet outside housing
I had it at 80 feet on one dive and 92’ on another dive outside of the housing accidentally. The cheap $20 housing popped open on one dive and on another the back fell ofF. Thought i lost the camera already at >. 33 feet without the housing, so I tucked it in my wetsuit. On surface I rinsed in fresh water, dried and opened…No Water!,, chip safe and after securing back into the housing, took it down. Very nice pictures and for the price you cannot beat GoPro . I use it on a extendable stick wipth a small light…I get good pictures although not macro. I have also taken the camera inside the housing to 158’ on same trip to Grenada on wreck of the Bianca C…wnet to sand bottom.

Feel like a movie star
I purchased two of these for my son and he just loves everything about them . He had an older version , the go pro 8 and wanted to update so I got him this one . He's a busy guy and always doing another project and something new everyday . He films just about everything he does and these camera's do everything they promised to do . You can see them in action by watching and subscribing to his You Tube page by looking for Kurtis Gleba on You Tube . I got him the tri- pod and protective case and all the bells and whistle's to go with this camera and he's very happy with everything . Was delivered with care and on time as well and would tell anyone who desires a good quality camera to buy this one as it does everything it's promised to do .

Terrible. Worse than simply trying to remember events. Crashes and overheats constantly.
Shooting in 4K 60fps - or even 1080p 30fps - in 65 degrees F ambient temperature (no sun) for as little as 10 minutes overheats this thing. It randomly reboots and says "repairing file," whether it's overheating or not. The "Preview" mode to a nearby phone makes this even worse. The battery doesn't last long at all. The device is super cumbersome to mount a peripheral, change the battery, or change the SD card. I don't even want to bother trying to shoot video in warmer temperatures. This is the worst, most annoying, most defective thing I've ever had the displeasure of trying to use. I spend so much time trying to get it to even do the bare minimum of what it is advertised to do that I end up missing the entire event I'm trying to capture. I might as well leave it at home and just remember the event; human memory may be unreliable, but it sure is more reliable than this GoAmateur piece of trash. 0 stars. I want a Sony camera and wish I had this money back to put to it. I'm never buying GoPro's garbage products again. They could just simply go out of business and let the real "Pros" step in with something better.
