Gizmo DorksWood Filament for 3D Printers 1.75mm 200g

Very tough print.
The Good: It is wood - literally, wood-filled plastic. The resulting prints have some of the properties of wood which is great. I saw complaints of weakness but this is expected with any filler not specifically added for strength. Allowing for the shortcomings, it produces some very nice prints that met my expectations. The Bad: First layer adhesion takes some doing. Even with my very nice print bed material it took a couple tries at 70C bed temperature - mfr recommends 100C I think but I can't go that high due to magnetic bed. I increased the nozzle temp to 225 for the first layer and slowed it down, which worked to get it down. Extrudes a little more like paste than other plastics, and likes to drip as the nozzle travels - again, mfr says increase retract but I went up to 4mm and still had quite a bit of dripping/stringing.The Ugly: Very tough to print with due to the filler. Possibly the toughest I've dealt with so far, including TPU and a couple other filled materials. Extrusions are inconsistent, under-extruding for a few seconds then overcompensating from the built up pressure and blasting the print with extra material. Slowing down a bit seems to help. This is likely due to what others complained about with clogging - hasn't happened to me yet at 0.4mm nozzle diameter but it seems to be trying its best to jam up. Definitely wouldn't recommend anything smaller than that. Larger nozzles may help.TLDR?My suggestions:1. Increase retract distance above what you'd normally do for PLA.2. Have a heated bed.3. Increase first layer temp.4. If possible, print outside perimeter last and hope for stable flow.5. Have minimum 0.4mm nozzle (higher is probably better).Good luck!

It's a good product for some very specific objects.
I think it's a fine product depending on what you're printing. It's is fairly weaker than normal PLA but it really does give a wood look. I think it is a great product if you're printing solid pieces. It's not that great if you have a lot of infill going on. It did jam up in the hot end once, but then I change out the hot end and printed a lot with it and had no further issues. It's a good product for some very specific objects.

Works well, fun to use, little stringy
I wanted to experiment with my new printer and try out some woodfill. I didn't want to buy a huge roll so this 200g roll seemed perfect. I also wanted it to be real woodfill, and not just normal PLA that just looks like wood. This is the real deal and made my office smell very nice. The mild wood burning smell was quite pleasant. I used a standard 0.4mm brass nozzle on my Prusa I3 MK3 and it all seemed to come out nice. Shown are a couple dogs, and an Eel and Anchor that I sanded and stained, both on Thingiverse. The Eel was pretty stringy and I feel like I didn't have the settings dialed in right but regardless things turned out great and I'll be buying more when this runs out.

Full of air bubbles
Really bad quality. I tried in two different printers. One Bowden and one direct feed and both had the same result. The filament would flatten immediately in the extruder gear. I looked closer at the filament and found that the core is full of bubbles. The stuff is totally useless.

Good wood filament
This filament works great. Its the only wood filament I have used so far though so I don't have much to compare it too. It's not really any more brittle than standard PLA when on the roll. However, it is definitely much weaker than regular PLA. This didn't matter to me personally since I use ABS or nylon for functional parts anyway. I used a nozzle temp of 210C and a bed temp of 60C for most prints but, it prints fine anywhere from 190 to 250C.It is possible to get a grainy effect by varying the temperature, and more importantly, the speed of the print. Lowering the print speed cooks the filament longer in the nozzle and gives it a darker color. One of my pictures has an example of the grain effect..

Waterlogged
Did not come vacuum sealed and didn't help it was raining the day it was delivered. Very brittle and very soft, wouldn't even feed right in to my printer. I'm going to dry it and see if that helps but don't have my hopes up.. Made popping noises during printing. Was using a 0.6mm nozzle with a hotend of 215 and bed of 65.

Not very good filament!
I have tried using this 2 times once with my monoprice printer and then with my Ender 3 and it was horrible on my monprice printer but it did better with my Ender 3 but the whole time it was printing all I could hear was popping coming from the nozzle! It did finish the print without clogging not sure how! But when it was finished it was stringy and was really fragile at about 225 degrees c. about middle of the temp range.

Nice smell, pretty easy to use, but a noticably weaker than straight PLA
I love the smell while printing - it's like being in a woodshop. The filament is quite fragile, however, and I broke the first couple of builds when trying to remove them from the bed (glass with hairspray). When I finally got a good build I was very happy with the wood-like finish. The textured finish handles some light sanding, making it easy to smooth out any small imperfections.
