Be aware - if you require LED for your application, there must be a bad batch of these. We ordered 5 from Amazon (not marketplace) and none of the LEDs work, tested across several desktops and laptops. There is a white barcode label on the back that appears to be post-vendor. It reads "X001PF586B". The text reads "32GB FD Glide 3.0 CZ600 Ret". It's the "Ret" that concerns me. Are these returned and re-packaged? We'll find out. I have a ticket opened w/ SanDisk.

Q: Will this work as a bootup disk to install a new Mac OS?

Not an exact answer here, but with Linux it boots flawlessly. So, if by some other means (YouTube videos, Mac tutorials, etc) you see that it is possible to use a USB drive to install the Mac OS, this SanDisk or any other good pen drive will work. Just look for an USB 3 to assure a good speed. I have pen drives with different versions of Debian, OpenSUSE, and live systems also for when I just need to boot and inspect/copy files from a (maybe unbootable by itself) computer.

Q: Does this have a place to connect a lanyard?

Yes it does. On the other end of the usb connection there is a opening for a lanyard.
