After spending some time in an area where kava bars and cafes are plentiful, and later moving to an area where the closest one is 100 miles away, I was looking for a way to brew my own kava. Traditional methods take plenty of time and effort and are better for large batches. The Kavafied AluBall Pro made it easy to make just enough for me and make some more when I'm ready. Simply unscrew the AluBall, place 1-2 scoops of kava in it, add 300mL of water to the container, and shake for a minute or so. I personally add some milk or cream for a little creaminess (plus fat helps extract the kavalactones) and a little sugar or pure maple syrup to sweeten. Sometimes I'll add a very small amount of lecithin or vegetable glycerin to help emulsify. Some plant-based milks will already have emulsifiers in them. Once you're done shaking, one half of the shaker bottle's cap becomes your bila shell to drink kava from (kava is traditionally served from cups made from coconut half-shells). I only have a little confusion about the instructions. I realized I was making it weak because I was filling up the bottle. The bottle has markers for up to 800mL, but the instructions call to use only 300mL of liquid with 1-2 tbsp of kava powder, and it states in all-caps "DO NOT OVER PACK [THE ALUBALL]." I'm not sure of the maximum capacity of the AluBall, but I don't want to test it and break it or clog it.

This is a great device for making a few shells of kava on the go. I got 5 or so drinks out of it at a time (in my own cup, not the lid). The bottle and lid are constructed well and feel sturdy. The shaker ball is easy to unscrew and fill. I filled it halfway with ground kava root and filled the bottle with water and shook. Took about 30 seconds to 1 minute to shake into a good kava mix. I took this on vacation where I knew there wouldn’t be anywhere local to get kava. It was nice to have kava to drink while away from home.

This has been a game changer in my Kava experience. So convenient compared to the traditional style and with the same results. Only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is due to the threading of the cover to bottle not cut properly. It closes but doesn’t thread on smooth and leaks sometimes.

Thought I had a leakage but you really have to tighten both caps real tight. The product could be a bit better in that area but other than that amazing product, for a small mix of kava on the go or whatever kine Yessuh blessuh.
