Closed Aquatic Ecosystem Large Sphere with LED Base

This was more incredible in person. I was so excited to give this to my son at Christmas. I'm jealous now because I want one for my office at work!.... This is garbage. I wrote the above review in December 2017. The Ecosphere actually exploded today! No one was touching it, it was sitting in it's base like always, and BOOM! Water and glass every place! And now I can not contact the seller!

I bought my first for it’s beauty, ease of care, lack of allergins, .What I found was how soothing they are so I’ve bought 8-10, for loved ones ,incapable of caring for fresh flowers or plants(terrariums also a favorite) orbs can go anywhere except ICU to remind loved ones that where there is life ,love, there is hope. (I’ve read lots of cruelty to animal notes) but my orbs have survived &are surviving 6-10 years) I can’t read the mind of a shrimp but these orbs have given so much joy,and hope to those I love. They’re a beautiful distraction, for those who are more confined than the shrimp. I love & respect all life & plan to order more orbs today

I love my ecosphere my husband and sons bought this for me last Christmas! It is doing well so well that my shrimp have had babies!!! I keep it on my desk in my office it gets natural light most of the day and on the weekends I turn on the led light. I highly recommend this to anyone with kids mine also love it. Its a great conversational piece in our office as well. GLASS IS SUPER FRAGILE THOUGH SO KEEP IT SAFE BROKE THE FIRST ONE WITH A PENCIL HITTING IT.

I had a small ecosphere about 15 years ago that had lived for a few years. They definitely can live longer than that though. My brother had a small one that had lived over ten years. It finally met its demise when he moved and forgot it in his car for a couple days during the summer :( I’ve always wanted a big ecosphere so my husband just bought me the large size. I absolutely love it! It had at least 12 shrimp possibly more (they’re so active they’re hard to count). I only notice one dead shrimp But everyone else looked healthy. I was concerned it would be jumbled around in shipping but it was absolutely perfect. It was in a large box and completely wrapped in foam. The multicolor light base is very cool too! My kids absolutely love watching these little guys swimming around.

Amazingly, I bought this ecosphere nearly 4 years ago and our last shrimp finally just passed away. This was the perfect holiday gift for a child who could not have enough pets which I was getting tired of cleaning up after. Just follow the instructions on where to place this dome and you will have effortless enjoyment for years to come!

I like that it is live! I don't like that the rotating base only lite up.

Ordered as a gift. The base is neat but is a little to precarious and inevitably it fell off and now has a huge crack in the ecosphere after a week.

We have had our EcoSphere for since November, so 5 months now. The shrimp have grown a little and they even had babies! There are about a dozen (almost microscopic) shrimp babies in there. The only thing you really have to worry about is too much or too little light for the algea growth. And, keep it out of direct sunlight or direct heat too of course. Otherwise, it's great to check in on these little guys. This was a gift for my wife for Christmas. She loves it.
