Chamberlain CIGCWC Gateway - The Perfect Solution to My Morning Paranoia
I received this today. This device works absolutely flawlessly. I bought the device because I'm paranoid. I'm constantly rushing out the door in the morning (teenagers in the morning are stressful) due to having a kid who does everything last minute. It's like diffusing a bomb and clipping the right wire with 1 second left. Anyway, I digress. This has caused me to, on occasion, leave the garage door open and have to drive back from the office to shut it. Usually, it's actually closed, however, probably 2 out of 10 times I've driven back, it was actually left open. That's enough for me to worry. This device is basically a gateway that allows you to send commands to your garage door via your local network IP. Chamberlain also provides an Internet gateway that communicates with your local gateway so you can access your garage door through your browser. Simple and convenient. The local gateway can be connected through your router, a wireless extender with a LAN port, or an Ethernet hub. I connected mine through the router but may move it to the extender to reduce clutter. Here's a breakdown of what I think about the CIGCWC gateway: A. Installation - This literally took approximately 10 minutes or less (including unboxing) total using the following steps: 1. Remove existing wall control unit in your garage. I didn't unplug anything. All you need is a Philips head screwdriver. 1 min. 2. Install the new wall control unit. This involves hooking-up a white and a red wire and attaching the unit to the wall. Test the new wall control unit. It should work just like the old one without having to do anything else. 1 min. 3. Take the gateway, and, using your phone, take a picture of the serial number on the unit. You'll need this later. 30 sec. 4. Use the included Ethernet cable to establish a wired connection to your router. 10 sec. 5. Use the included power adapter to plug the gateway into your wall outlet. 5 secs. 6. Open a browser window on your computer and navigate to [...] and create an account. The site has instructions. Simply follow them. 2 mins. 7. Check your email and verify your account. 30 sec. 8. Log in to your account at [...] and add the gateway to your account using the serial number you took a picture of in step #3. There are steps on the website. Once added, use the web interface to open and close the garage door. It should work without you having to do anything else. 1 min. 9. Download the MyQ app to your mobile devices (either using the link on the website or directly from your device using either Google Play for Android or the Apple App Store for Apple devices), install, and log in using the same account you used when you initially setup your account in step #6. I installed mine on 3 Android devices. 2 phones and 1 tablet. This only took about 2 mins per device since I just pushed the app to all devices using the web interface instead of downloading the app individually for each device. 10. Test each of your mobile devices using the MyQ app to ensure that you can open and close the garage door. That's it. From there, you can set all sorts of rules to run such as what you would want your garage door to do in case you left it open. You can even set push notifications that will notify when any of the set events occurs. I set mine to notify me if the garage door is left open for more than 10 mins. If you have an older garage door opener like I do, and you want to add remote access, this device will do the trick. I got mine on sale for $68.50 on Amazon and it was worth every penny. Highly-recommended.

Works as advertised, VERY EASY to set up, ONLY compatible with SOME openers.
OMG - This kit is awesome! Took all of 10 minutes to set up. Easy/Breezy - Assuming your existing opener is compatible with this "Connectivity Kit", here in a nut shell is what the thing can do, and how to set it up. I'm a Microsoft Certified System Engineer and I've been working in the tech field for a LONG time. But that doesn't matter - this is SO simple. 1. Unplug your Garage Door Opener from the ceiling plug. Remove your old wall switch, install the new switch (aka - Control Panel) paying attention to the polarity (red to red, white to white) only 2 wires. Once connected, plug the opener back in. Don't worry, if you get the wires backwards the yellow light won't light up if they are wrong. They tell you to wait until it's charged, but mine was charged almost immediately. The only problem I had was finding a screw with a head small enough to fit into the lower hole on the Control Panel (I gave up and only used the top hole). This part is DONE. 2. Take a picture of or write down the Serial # from the "internet gateway" (comes in the kit), then connect it to your router. You have to have a wired Ethernet port available. First plug in the Ethernet cable from the internet gateway to your router, then plug the AC adapter into the wall, and lastly plug the wire from the AC adapter into the "internet gateway". It configures itself!! Yep, you don't have to set IP addresses, you don't have to do anything! Oh, the Ethernet cable comes with it. 3. Go to www.mychamberlain.com and create/setup an account. (Someone else said the web address was wrong, but it worked for me). You enter your email address, and other info. as registering for anything online. They will ask for the serial number. They send you an email, you open the email and click on the link to confirm the account. 4. You follow the online prompts, when you get to the point where they show you a Garage Door, that is YOUR opener. You probably don't have to configure it, it was already done for me. I just clicked on the Garage Door image, and my Garage Door Opened!! SIMPLE 5. Done! If you want to install the phone APP - continue 6. I have an Android, went to the Play Store, searched for MYQ and found the Chamberlain APP. Installed it, used the same credentials I used to create the account, and I was connected. 7. You can set some options, like have the system send you an email when the garage opens are or when it closes, VERY COOL feature. 8. Lastly, you can set the Button Up (control panel) so that the door closes automatically after you open it. There are 3 time delay options - 1, 5 and 10 minutes. It won't close if there is something blocking your existing safety lights. AND, it makes a fairly loud beeping noise to alert that the door is about to close. 11. Lastly, there is a built in sensor that detects when someone passes the switch, and automatically turns on the light for a predetermined time (adjustable - default is 4 1/2 min. I think which is just right for me). So, why do I like it? Everyday I go to work, I wonder, did I close the garage door. I've tried little tricks to remind myself but inevitably I forget to remember once a week or so. That means, driving back to check it. It's always closed, but I still check. (it was open once - hit the rake and reopened). Anyway - If this thing keeps working as it is now, I am a very happy customer!! Thank You Chamberlain!!

Excelente! Funciona de maravilla a pesar de que no estaba en la lista de soportados. El único problema es que dice que está cerrado cuando está abierto y viceversa y no hay forma de configurarlo en la app.

When I first got the product and installed it, it didnt work. The wall control unit wouldn't connect to the gateway. I wrote (they didnt have a toll free 800 number) to Chamberlain with my problem and a very helpful agent walked me through the procedure. When she had confirmed that nothing should be wrong, she sent out a replacement wall control unit. I got the unit and installed it and I still couldn't get it to work so I asked them to call me back again. She did and it was determined that the logic board in the actual door opener was likely at fault. They shipped one out the next day. I installed it and everything works like a charm. Although, they don't have a toll free number their service and support is top notch and the remote gateway is accessible via app. It also integrated seamlessly into my Wink Hub home automation system as advertised.

Setup was minimal and so far it has worked well even for a detached garage with a 2003 Chamberlain branded Security+ door opener (not the Security+ 2.0 one) I installed this because our 8kW DC APS microinverter based solar system on the garage was interfering with the garage door remotes, especially during peak power generation from 11am to 3pm. So far, the receiver has had no problem hearing the open/close signal from the gateway. Using an app to control the garage door has the security benefit that you don't leave the garage door opener visible in the car. (A common crime is to break into a car and open the garage door, which can lead directly to your house). The only little hiccup was that I had to log out of the website and log back in before I could change the "Name" and "Location". Odd. [March 2018] Going strong, works a charm, the app has only had troubles a few times but otherwise it is used more than twice a day on different phones.
