Fantastic Tolkien reading

I bought this for my boyfriend and I will never ever read these books. So I can't speak to the content. But the set is good quality and looks great sitting on the shelf next to the matching LOTR set.

These have sewn bindings, and the paper stock is thick. Bookmark ribbons. Typeface is clear and not too small. These are not "premium" books, but they are nice mid-quality hardcovers, and priced appropriately. Good if you want decent hardcovers but can't afford Folio Society. It was very nice to get all 5 books as a matched set. 👍

As an avid Tolkein fan, I have always wondered where many beloved characters got their start as well as the precursor to middle earth. This book set contains many of the answers I and possibly others are looking for. The font is large enough that you do not have to strain to read, unlike many other versions that have small font sizes. Three of the books dive into the lore and happenings prior to the hobbit and lord of the ring series. There is also an extra included book that contains more short stories written by Tolkein. For readability and presentation, these books are fantastic to add to your collections.

This was so affordable i do feel bad giving it 4 stars. However, The paper and print quality is very low and difficult to read. I have several other copies of LOTR around the house.. bought these sets for my kid. Bought both box sets the one with lotr and hobbit and this set with the Silmarillion etc. So yeah She has good eyes and can read it, and at least she can dog ear the pages and i wont care lol.

Gave these as a gift to my daughter who is an avid reader and she hasn’t been able to put them down.

This is a great looking collection. One of the books is printed poorly on a slant with some words cut off but otherwise perfect.

Os livros chegaram um pouquinho machucados nas extremidades, arranhadinhos e amassadinhos, mas coisa pouca. São LINDOS e chegaram bem antes da data prevista! Amei!

Buona raccolta economica, peccato per The Tolkien Reader che ha lo stile di copertina diverso dagli altri. In teoria, viene data la possibilità di scegliere lo stile del set, ma mi sono trovata comunque l'intruso.
