Works perfectly, great value
The media could not be loaded. I have sticky London clay soil, it’s like plasticine. I have tried other aerators, they all clog immediately and are useless. This works. There is a knack to using it, a short sharp stamp, without completely submerging the tines in the lawn keeps the plugs popping out nicely. Assembly is easy (though no washers were supplied with the bolts) and it seems sturdy enough. The metal is good and thick where it needs to be. Having only two tines is optimal IMO, it doesn’t require too much force to sink it into the ground and reduces fatigue. Decent hand grips keep the blisters at bay. I’m sure the American made stainless steel version also available is superior, but it’s about £150 versus £20 for this. An absolute no brainer.

It actually works!
In my quest for a lovely lawn, I've tried a couple of other hollow tine aerators over the years, both of which were lousy and got clogged up. This one however really gets in to the soil and the cores pop out the front probably 9 times out of 10. I think it's also helped by only having 2 tines, rather than 4, so there's more force on each tine. Spiking my 5m x 12m lawn took about 20 minutes, and cleaning up afterwards was a breeze. It's not the most sturdy item in the shed, but if you retighten the nuts and bolts after first use it gets a lot better. For the money I'd say it's a cut above other low-cost aerators and well worth getting.

Makes holes in the lawn...
I had been (occasionally) forking the lawn and after the last time of it being really hard work and not making much difference I bought this. What is better than using a fork is it removes plugs of soil instead of making a hole. The footplate makes it easier to press down without your foot slipping and it seems pretty sturdy. Occasionally you need a quick tighten but no big deal. The downsides are it is still manual so hard work over a large area, the plugs get stuck occasionally depending on how wet the soil is underneath and afterwards the left over plugs look like an army of dogs have been pooing over the lawn LOL You can clear them up afterwards but some people say they should be left. I'm undecided.Good value for money, 2 prongs is better than 4 in my opinion even though it takes longer as your weight is concentrated over 2 prongs. Great tool.

It Actually Worked ... where all others have failed - Most Impressed.
I have tried numerous different aerators from shoes with spikes (deadly and rubbish) just using a garden fork, to different types of Core aerators ... and all have been ineffective. In some cases impossible to use.Core aerators just get blocked up.. yeah tried WD40, and watering the garden beforehand... etc. Massive fail.So I was dubious when I purchased this. As you can see by the picture .. I need not have worried. It worked really well and was the first to ever do so properly. Yes, I have tried a few!I have to say it was hard work, I had watered the lawn the night before as I was holding out for rain for three days after weeding and feeding. Needless to say, it rained the same night too! So the ground was softish.I am going to leave the plugs to dry out and scarify the lawn (yes an odd time) at a high level to smash them up. Then water and watch the magic happen... I hope.I hope to be able to do the front lawn too seeing as how this actually worked.Brilliant. Buy one.

Brilliant tool
So pleased with this. I made a mistake and bought a four pronged one which was so rubbish, all the earth just packed the holes and I could get it out no matter what I did , was an expensive waste of money. I was a bit dubious about buying this item (getting sick of wasting money on rubbish from amazon ) ...but so glad I bought this ...worked a treat .. it is important that your lawn soil is wet .. but it worked so easily, the tool is built well with extra bits, they also gave you tools to put it together!!! ..i loved that !!! I'm so.pleased with it that I've actually come back to review it to help others ...Hope it helps

It was going so well!
Worked really well but make sure the lawn is wet. I used this the day after heavy rain so the ground was soft and it was reasonably easy. However a small bit of metal welded to the main frame which the hollow tine attaches to snapped off and couldn’t be repaired so the item was returned.Shame as it’s a great tool for the price but it needs to be sturdy enough to do the job it is designed to do.

Broke on second use! Poor quality.
Broke on second use!Worked OK the first time, but halfway though the second use around 6 months later, the tine has completely broken off and barely looks like it was welded at all in the first place. The issue is that due to how infrequently you use tools like this, it's likely to be out of any sort of warranty.

Excellent device for the occasional Gardner
I have started recently to pay attention to my lawn that I have neglected for years, and among the things I have found to help with the process of strengthening the lawns. Researching on amazon as one does I have reached a conclusion that the Swordsman Aerator was the best, however, I couldn't justify the price for an occasional Gardner, I mean if I was a professional Gardner that would have made sense but not on this situation. Looking around I have found that most aerators have the same common fault, they get blocked easily and Swordsman overcome this. I was really surprised to stumble upon this product, and I was even more curious that it had no feedback, so how bad could it be?So far I had this product for a week and I have aerated a medium size garden with it and my take on this is that this is a "Value" version of swardman, I wish they made a version (maybe slightly more expensive) with 3 tines instead of 2? So far it has exceeded my expectation and any negatives I have about it is nit picking, it has fulfilled my need. I personally doubt that it will survive daily use and the paint on the tines has come off as per the video with the product (which was very accurate), and I have noticed some rust on them but hey for what I paid and the result I got, I think I got myself a bargain.
