amazing midquel
I love this midquel. It's as what a critic said. As good as the original. I've been trying to get it for many years and months but I just couldn't get it. Some of it makes me laugh. I even thought about one of the Caillou gets grounded videos and his family was joking him thinking he got coal and reindeer poop for Christmas. At the end when Bambi passed out, I was like "Come on, he made it through the rest of the first movie." About 30 minutes or so in the movie when Bambi thought he heard mother, I knew it was Man who is tricking him. While I was working, I kept making the sound he was making when he was fighting or attacking. The one where Thumper thinks it's a squirrel. Then I also thought about wildlife. I didn't know this was out on the big screen in most countries. I thought "No wonder why it's called Bambi in Africa. "In the past you couldn't rent it on Netflix but I think now you can. As a kid I thought this was a time warp from being an adult to being a kid again. Now I know it's a midquel. I've admired Sir Patrick Stewart for many months and years since Nausicaa. Then my admiration grew stronger and stronger when I've seen more than dubbing the English role of that movie. Probably more than a decade since then. (I can't believe he'll be 75 this year) [2015]. Then I also thought that skunks don't hibernate.

Loved Bambi as a kid and I love part 2 just as much as part 1.

A worthy successor to a timeless classic.
"Bambi" was simply one of Disney, and animation in general's, finest works. However the time gap between Bambi walking into the forest with his father and his adult years is still a mystery, and this film answers some of those questions. The animation is stunning, recreating the realistic caricature of deer and other forest animals, as well as the integrity of the original film. The backgrounds are beautiful as well as the score, and the story, while lighthearted like the original, also has times of significant emotional depth when needed. Any fan of the original Bambi and animation in general will appreciate this movie, and the attention to detail and care put into it by it's creators. Patrick Stewart as the Great Prince was a fantastic choice in addition the rest of the cast. I will treasure this movie for years to come as a classic that can be placed into the original Bambi during it's middle.

Not Sure 'Bonus Content' is Nothing Much But the FILM is GREAT
Watch the film. It's wonderful - very close to old school real Disney style. I mean it is, but slightly modernized. But I'd say after such time, it's a very well done job. The voice actors are fabulous - all of them. My only disappointment was that 'bonus content' isn't listed, or itemized. They are placed in a linear fashion after the film, so you have to 'find' them or watch them in sequence. Dumb.

Bambi II
Brought this because I was hoping it would fit in well with the original to give my grandchildren more of a good thing. The video does not disappoint. The few inconsistencies such as the number of Thumper's sisters does not distract. The relationship between Bambi and the Old Prince of the Forest is uplifting as a father takes over the responsibility for his motherless child. Showing there is no immediate hesitation but second thoughts while the father thinks he is not really fit for this responsibility and then comes to realize it is not a responsibility he wants to give up. So it has a nice little morality tale embedded. The inconsistency that did get to me a bit, but would probably be missed by young children is the Prince's revelation he first met Bambi's mother when he was young. This doesn't fit the description Bambi's mother gives of deer respecting him due to his old age unless we conclude Bambi's mother was an old doe. Sweet and enjoyable story with cartooning that melds well with the original classic.

Bambi II
My son really loved Bambi 1 so when I saw this I knew he just had to have it. He is 2 years old and will be 3 in 2 months. He adores Thumper and his sisters. He literally knows certain parts by heart and will scream them out loud before the characters have a chance. The groundhog part gets him really excited as does the part where Thumper teaches Bambi to be brave. This is a great...clean movie. I have not seen one part that I mind that my son watch. It is def. a great addition to our movie collection. My son wants to watch it every day. He drags me to the tv and says "deer...deer." Highly recommend.
