Great Way to bring back life to your outdoor furniture
My old pillows were stained even though I had treated with scotch guard. I figured I couldn’t go wrong with this stuff. It already looked bad. The sizes of the cushions were hard to find so this was the best option I could come up with. The batch of cans I had sprayed fine. But did get some that seemed to be clogging inside the can. The pressure of the paint would just go away and splutter to a stop. But once I got new cans they did great. Now going from white to navy took a lot of coats. I used overall 4 cans of this stuff, so expect to basically use a can per cushion you have. It stiffens up the fabric some but I do think it will soften with time and much softer than had I just used spray paint. I finished it off with heavy duty scotch guard though I am certain had I not, it would have been still great and expect these to hold up. And will be easy to touch up as it fades (if it even does!) Looking back I wish I had chosen a color closer to the original color, perhaps the light gray, because it took a lot of coats. My sister in law will be trying the green on her green cushions and I can’t wait to see the results. I included the before, during, and after photos.

Super easy spraying
The Rust-Oleum Fabric Paint did its jo just fine. My 9-foot umbrella is over 9 years old and faded from bright Red to pink. I used 2 cans of paint, one for each layer. I also added a “trigger grip” to the Rust-Oleum can and the job went easily and took a little over 2 hours, spraying two layers and waiting about an hour between sprays. The color, Chili Red is more Orange than red, but looks good with red brick. (See my photos). There was no clogging up of the paint spray as some reviewers stated, and the hand trigger is a “must” for every painter! Little pricey, but hopefully will be worth it. The umbrella feels and looks like new!! Highly recommend!!

AWFUL PRODUCT
Wish I could leave a 0 review. This product is garbage. Will not spray. Just pours out of the tip. AND IT CANNOT BE RETURNED! Worst paint quality ever. Rust Oleum should be ashamed for not removing this product from stores.

With hot water, works
Worked well, but as others mentioned, cloggs were a near constant issue, but with a hot bucket of water nearby, I was able to put the nozzle briefly in the water to clear it and then start again. Others mentioned getting a better batch from Lowes, may be a good idea.

Amazing coverage
I had an old green awning that was supposed to be thrown away. When I looked at replacement costs, I decided to keep it. It sat in my backyard for over a year, until I got this idea to paint it. I used 2 cans and didn’t spray the inside of it. Outdoor fabric is tough to paint so if you have a larger project consider that you will need quite a few cans. I really needed 2 more cans to spray inside. Great product. It has endured very heavy rain and no color loss has occurred. No color transfer onto my pink colored house either.

Takes way too much for color saturation
I used 1 can of the dark red and it didn't complete 1 side of 1 seat cushion and 1 pillow back. I'm not sure if it would ever be dark red or matter how much I used. I was hopeful when I started because it looked like it was covering pretty well with good color. But when it dried it was pink and original was showing through even though it was a very smooth fabric and originally green it was sun faded to almost white. I'm a big fan of Rustoleum and have used a LOT of it the past few years, so I was really excited when I discovered this on their site, I even watched some YouTube video reviews of it. They were mixed but more negative than pos and now that I've tried it I have to agree with the negative side. I still have 5 cans of the dk red and 2 cans of khaki so I'm going to use them on a gray sun shade that I have and recover my cushions as I had planned before I found this. 1st pic is side sprayed (3 light coats) 2nd is back side of same cushions (no coat on back pillow and just a light partial one around edge of seat cushion. Also the picture looks darker, it's actually a mauve pink and not red at all.

Surprised with the results . . .
My silk victorian lamp shade would cost me a few hundred dollars to replace. It is over 30 years old and had water marks. Instead of buying a new white silk shade, I used the khaki colored outdoor fabric spray paint. I am very pleased with the results and would highly recommend this product. Thank you.

This works well
This worked so well. I used it on faded patio furniture cushions in June 2025. The color is rich and has not faded in the last 6 months. I live in Colorado, it’s very sunny here. The color did not bleed on our clothing when we sat in the cushions or in the rain. We got another summer out of the cushions. I would definitely use this product again.
