Sometimes I use it when I have friends over and we just want to sort of doodle paint while we talk and other times I use it to do a study on color. There is a range of design experience across the cards plenty for beginners or intermediate artists. A fun gift idea is to pair a small canvas tote bag with one of these a set of watercolor, blank cards and a small watercolor set. Pure magic. Review: Great to use for inspiration alone or in a group. - I am having a lot of fun with this color deck. It's a great way to spark inspiration. I use it with a group of friends too.

Inspiration
There is nothing wrong with finding and taking inspiration from Any source. One of my best paintings was inspired by a napkin holder. These cards are tools and toys of colors shapes sizes textures all conveniently in one neat and orderly spot. I don't know about y'all, but when I'm creating, it gets messy, all organizational skills go bye bye. The napkin holder inspired me only so far because I don't want to copy someone else's work, so I use myself, my mind, and other inspirations. These cards are those for me, my other inspirations. They are simply principles of art on cards in a very handy form, which creates less chaos during the creation process, makes it easier and cleaner, saving time. ie., this one spot on the piece of art isn't quite right but I'm having trouble finding exactly what I want, reworking it to the point of possible ruination. These cards solve it magically. I'm science minded though, so it isn't really magical, it just seems that way.

Creative way to meditate and enjoy color and shapes.
Fun activity. The book isn't easy to read or use, but I enjoyed it as a way to focus on color and meditate.

Color bliss! Never have artist block again!
One of my struggles as an artist has always been getting started. Lisa Solomon's Color Meditation Deck is a welcome relief to these struggles. The deck features an assortment of cards to be used separately or together to spark your creative juices, along with a book - which I have yet to open (eek). Everyone says that creativity requires "thinking outside of the box" when in reality, having limitations actually makes it easier to start. This deck is the PERFECT solution for those times - pull a card or two and start. It really is that easy. I'll be using this deck daily for warm-ups for both myself and my students. The beauty of this deck (besides the physical beauty of its vibrant printing and heavyweight stock, along with the sturdy well designed box the set is housed in) is that it is not media dependent - it works just as well for oil pastels, pen and ink, and digital design as it does for tradition painting. This set is a real asset to any who might choose to use it. I am thoroughly pleased with this purchase and will likely buy additional sets as gifts. Well done, Lisa. Thank you for providing a solution to those moments when I'm just not sure how to start. Brava!

Exactly what I was looking for
Watercolor teacher here. This is a brilliant resource for artists looking for easy and fun exercises to do in the in-between, or for intentional meditative sessions. So much creative time is lost when you don't know what to paint, or you're too tired to paint a large-scale, detailed project -- this set gives artists ideas for easy things to paint, no matter how much time you do (or don't) have. The prompts are also an excellent way to get to know your paints and explore color mixing and harmonies even more. Will recommend to all my students!

Color deck and book for artists
I was struggling with color on my collages and paintings until this little deck and book gave me a new perspective. If you’re stuck on black and white pieces, this process might help you too. It’s a small investment with real potential!
