I used this to adapt an old NES system to a new television. It worked perfectly.

Our old tv died so we had to buy a new one and come to find we could only get a tv that had hdmi inputs. Ordered this to hookup our old gaming systems. Initial setup didn’t work. We were ready to return this and then decided to try an hdmi cord we have instead of the one it came with. That did the trick. Works perfectly with a good hdmi cord and not the one it came with! Sound quality and picture are exactly as they should be! Only other downfall is it needs to be plugged into a power source too.

Needed this for my TV that doesnt have AV, and it runs better than I expected. Connectivity is good and was easy to set up and works great with the N64 The thing with the picture quality, even though it has 720p and 1080p, it's not actually going to make it a higher quality, this tool is just supposed to allow you to connect incompatible devices. I knew about it but I can see that many did not lmao

The quality is abysmal unless you reconnect the cables during capture. For VHS capture this is unfeasible as whenever a tape is in the stop position, the signal has to reconnect which causes the video quality to go bad. When the quality is bad the colors are extremely bad and the contrast all the way up, muddling all the details. However, reinserting the video or power cable fixes it (although the contrast still is too high, but much better), and so it is very unreliable. This adapter could be perfect but is has these weird quirks so I can't justify giving it a good rating.
