Do What You Are: Discover the Perfect Career for You Through the Secrets of Personality Type Review: Great Career and Personality Guide - I've listened to this book numerous times on audio, and it's great having it visual, too. This book is quite possibly the best career book I've ever read along with the best description of the MBTI system that I've found. The first half of the book is all about finding type. I went into the book having a good idea of mine, and this book backed up my thoughts, and it also provided many examples to explain about the different types and how they manifest in real life. The focus is mostly on the workplace, but many of the ideas and examples can be translated to one's personal life (and the Tiegers have written books about relationship and parenting with MBTI in mind, as well). The second half goes into each of the 16 types and provides 3 descriptions of people with that type as well as a large amount of information about that type's general strengths and weaknesses, what that type generally needs to be fulfilled, and strategies that work well for that type in looking for a job or adapting their current job to make it better for their personality. This book really helped me when I was struggling for motivation in looking for a new job while at a job I did not like. It helped me to understand the reasons why I was not fulfilled at my current job and what I would need to be fulfilled. It's helped me to narrow my job search and skip over those jobs that I know, right out of the gate, would not be good for me because they go directly against the things that I need for my type (i.e. I'm an introvert, so I should to avoid jobs with heavy personal interaction, like customer service or PR jobs). Absolutely recommend to anyone interested in the MBTI, anyone looking for a job, or anyone just wanting to find out more about who they are and why they think and act like they do. Review: Myers-Briggs Types Relating to Career Search - If you are interested in Myers-Briggs types and how they relate to career choice, this book is one of the best, if not the best, resource out there. I like to use it after individuals I work with have taken the pen and paper assessment in David Keirsey's book PLEASE UNDERSTAND ME II or online versions of Myers-Briggs assessments. Features to like about this book: * succinct background on the history and origins of Myers-Briggs * comprehensive descriptions of the 16 types * lists of careers which might suit the different types * strengths and weaknesses of each type as it relates to careers * explanation of the four functions and their hierarchy * ten steps worksheets to create a personal career plan This is a very helpful book for those already familiar with Myers-Briggs and want to know its link to careers. It's great for career counselors or individuals who want comprehensive understanding of Myers-Briggs. If you just want a quick overview, suggest you take the online Myers-Briggs assessments and read the information there. Then read this if you are wanting further background and more comprehensive information.

This book helped me understand the kind of environment and conditions that best suit me
Very helpful book! Understanding your personality type is very insightful for many things. And with career, invaluable. This book helped me understand the kind of environment and conditions that best suit me. Also, I was able to use much of the info for job seeking and interviewing (such as better knowing my strengths and weaknesses). I've looked at many "figure out your right career track" books, tests, etc. and they've mostly been crap and gained me nothing. This book is the exception. No book or test can tell you your perfect job. But this one will help you gain a lot of self-knowledge that will help you navigate the territory and increase your odds at satisfaction and finding a good work "home".

Fantastic resource for writers!
It really does a wonderful job explaining the various skills each type has and how those skills could be applied in various jobs, which is so helpful for writers stuck on character development. Realistic jobs for believable and relatable characters. So glad I bought this book!

This is an amazing book and I have recommended it several times. Every person who has read it has agreed with the results. I think that every high school student, college student and person that is looking for the right career for them should read this book! If you feel like a square peg in a round hole in your current job, read this book! One of the things that I love is that it highlights your individual traits and which jobs are good and why. It also gave me more confidence to pursue my next career move. THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS BOOK!!

A great book if you're uncertain what job or career you should pursue at any time in life. Your personality is all about your innate abilities. Once you know that and the skills you love to use, you have the perfect recipe for enjoyable work.
