Can I install led bulbs for high beam and low beam?

Yes and no. A lot of people don’t seem to know this, but federal law prohibits LED bulbs in headlamps designed for halogen bulbs. It’s illegal, period. Individual states also have their own specific regulations regarding LEDs in vehicle exterior lights. So will you get pulled over and receive a citation? There are too many variables to say for certain one way or another, but there are ways to decrease the likelihood: 1: Stick to bulbs choices that are warm white (3000k, 43000k, 45000k) or neutral white (5000k, 55000k). Anything blue (beginning with 6000 kelvin) will start to attract attention that a headlight bulb may not be street legal. 2: Stick to projector housings only. Projectors have a much more distinct, sharper vertical cutoff line that won’t shine up at pedestrians and other drivers (gains attention of people,**including police officers**). They are also highly associated in people’s minds with HID bulbs. This fact may fool onlookers into believing a vehicle has HID headlights. Since the high beam of these particular headlights are reflector housings, the bulbs are visible from the exterior of the vehicle. If those are kept halogen, and only the projector low beams are changed to LED bulbs (that are not obnoxiously blue), that won’t grab an officer’s attention. The next issue is fitment. The rear of both the high and low housings of these lights have dust caps. LED bulbs have large heatsink/fans that halogen bulbs do not have. So there isn’t enough space (depth-wise). In order to put any LED or HID bulbs in these headlights, a deeper dust-cap/boot would be needed. These can be bought individually, just have to find the right size. DO NOT simply remove the cap without replacing it! You’ll end up with condensation and dust buildup throughout the housing. That won’t just take away performance, but could potentially lead up to a car fire!! It’s up to you to make the decisions how to proceed, hope I helped clear some things up 🙂

does it work for the overland version?

Sort answer: NO. Overland models have OEM HIDs. These headlights are designed for models factory equipped with halogen headlights only. Long answer: It would not be entirely impossible to install these on an Overland, however extensive rewiring would be required. It would be very difficult and expensive to pay someone to do so. It would also be a huge downgrade in headlight beam performance. Better options: There are other aftermarket headlights with LEDs available at comparable cost. These are designed by the company Eagle Eye. The company Spider makes a headlight similar to this one available in both halogen and HID versions. There is also another Chinese company (unknown name) that makes a set with separate white & amber LEDs plus both the high and low beams are both projectors. <-Arguably the best option for a ‘11-‘13 Overland, but that’s my opinion. There is also now an All-LED headlight available from Morimoto that is designed to be compatible with ALL WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokees, but if your Jeep is a ‘11 -‘13 that would also require body parts as well to fill in the gaps because it’s the shape of the smaller ‘17-‘22 headlights. This is the most expensive option at well over $2k. <-my opinion again, doesn’t look great, not worth it (for 11-13 years). This option with specialty made body parts for the gaps is available as a complete package from MHFautolighting dot com.

These headlights do not have an automatic DRL function built in. The white LEDs come on when the parking lights are turned on and drop out for amber when (aka flashback). The WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee can be programmed to have DRL function, but it is a matter of enabling it in the vehicle computer, not which headlights are equipped. This can be accomplished via app (either Jscan or AlphaOBD) + Bluetooth OBD2 dongle, or via professional equipment. *Note: If DRL is enabled and parking lamps are designated to function as DRL with these headlights installed, the LEDs will be AMBER. The white will be lost completely. This is legal as it’s going back to OEM design color, but probably not what one wants. I don’t know precisely why these headlights respond that way, but that is what happens.

Looks good just one issue

The media could not be loaded. Looks amazing. Great product and easy to install if you know what you are doing. Only had troubles with one of the containers not matching correctly, but fixed that in a sec and everything worked out amazing.

UPDATE - 2 YEARS OF USEPROS::They look good:Headlights are bright:Headlights have lasted over 2 yearsCONS::ITS PEELING! The coating they put on the headlights to protect from UV damage starts peeling at the first small rock chip.. CAREFUL!:The DRL’S are NOT bright and will not be visible during daytime or in most lightingConclusion? Worth the money if you want short term good looks! but I can attest the longevity is not with this product! If they sold lenses to fix my issue it would be 4 stars..
