Simple Caramel Peanut

I discovered this protein bar while at an airport on the east coast. Since I didn't have time to eat a regular meal before connecting with my second flight, I grabbed this bar from the shelf and ate it on the plane. When I got back home on the west coast, I couldn't find this particular brand locally and, since I had enjoyed the taste and high protein count, I looked it up on Amazon and was able to purchase it there. I find it a great and quick meal replacement with a glass of soy milk for those times when I am on the run. to me, it tastes better than most protein bars I have tried in the past.

I have purchased these bars several times. The are pretty good, difficulty is getting them shipped in the summer time. I've ordered them twice in the summer and the bars melt and the caramel substances leaks inside the individual packages. This doesn't make them uneatable its just messy and you have to eat them out of the wrapper so you don't get caramel all over you hands. Just my observation.Again, good bar just had bad experience with getting them shipped in summer time.

I mostly got these as a snack for after light cardio workouts. I typically do a protein shake for anything heavier. I liked that they are pretty low calorie and sugar content while still having a decent amount of fiber. The taste isn't anything special. It tastes like a generic protein bar but every few bites you do get a peanut which gives it a nice crunch. I would assume the 2.1 ounce bars would taste better because it would be a better ratio of chocolate to caramel/peanut.I want to mention that sometimes a few of the bars are a bit squished and the caramel is all over the inside of the package. Still tastes fine but might leave your fingers sticky. I also had one bar in my 3 boxes that was flattened with practically no filling. Quality control might not be perfect or I'm just unlucky.Ultimately its hard to find a protein bar with this balance of calories, sugar, and fiber so I'm fine paying a little over $1 per bar. Although that seems a bit higher than similar sized bards. I reordered so I definitely recommend them.

These are the best out there as far as taste is concerned, in my opinion. No chalky taste at all. I'm sure that a few nutritionists/health nerds will stomp me for this review, trying to push whatever other product he/she is selling or promoting at their place of business or practice. But, from an unbiased person, I love these. High protein to calorie ratio and best tasting on the market. I've tried and enjoyed: Quest protein bars, Zone, thinkThin, Special K, Pure Protein, and several others. But Detour's bars are great and better tasting. The oatmeal bars are great as well if you want something for a breakfast replacement on the go occasionally. I have had these bars in the past and have always liked them. They used to be more substantial, even in the mini version. They are now very flat with hardly any caramel or peanuts. Some didn't even have an ounce of caramel or peanuts altogether. I was very disappointed. These are not the same bars I once loved and enjoyed. Especially with how expensive they have become, these are definitely not worth the price. Taste is fine, but everywhere else they have fallen flat.....quite literally. ☹

The bars in this box came to me unsealed. The wrapper was open on the ends of many of the bars. I grabbed one from the box to take to the gym and only discovered this once I was ready to eat one. The product looked old with the coating broken up and crumbling. Clearly not a fresh product and/or the food was stored improperly. Amazon has sold me numerous cartons of bars from another brand in this inferior condition. I've called it to their attention with NUGO bars in Raspberry Truffle. That manufacturer was also called at the time and I was told by the company that some of the bars are housed by Amazon in non-temperature controlled areas. Apparently, that could be the case with this box as well. I just called this to Amazon's attention and they say they will not take back inferior food any longer. This is disturbing!

Thank you thank you thank you for making a small sized bar with protein and low sugar this is actually edible! I usually eat "kids" bars to get the calorie range that I want (100-150 calories) but those are high in sugar to make them taste better. Are these the best tasting bars? No, I get a strong stevia flavor so that could be improved. But they are exactly what I need and I put them on auto ship to make sure I don't run out.

I have mixed feelings about these protein bars. They taste amazing - like a candy bar! But they have inulin in them and that stuff is equal to eating a bowl full of broccoli and beans... if you know what I mean! It’s terrible! I can’t eat them anymore because of it.. bummer!
