Outstanding small X-Y table for precision work, recommended!
This is the best small X-Y table I've used and I highly recommend it for any small work. The gibs are very tight and precise and both axes move very smoothly with the traverse knobs. The ways are protected from chips, the gibs are adjustable, and the scales on both knobs plus a linear scale on the X-table are adjustable for ease of use. I work with watches and small clocks so this table is ideal for my use, and it's currently mounted to a precision micro-drill-press (Cameron 164). I can position any work item very precisely and it will be held securely for drilling. The graduated dials make positioning very easy and accurate. I am currently using this table with the Proxxon 24260 precision vise (excellent) and the Proxxon 24256 step clamps, both of which work well with this table. I'm an engineer and machinist and I have had several inexpensive import X-Y tables before that were practically unusable due to sloppiness, crude construction or poor fit of components, this table is completely superior to all of them and totally out of their league. Note that I am not associated or affiliated with Proxxon in any way, I just appreciate a well-made tool and I'm very pleased that Proxxon is able to offer these at such reasonable prices. An important cautionary statement: This is a SMALL X-Y table, it will not work well for large items and you cannot put a massive milling machine vise on it (like, for example, a Kurt D30 3" vise) it's just too small. If the Proxxon vise mentioned above is too small for you, I would recommend a 2" screwless toolmaker's vise, but nothing larger. Also, this table should be excellent for milling "easier" materials like brass, aluminum, plastic or jeweler's wax, and possibly mild steel if you are careful. But I wouldn't recommend it for tool steel, stainless or anything harder, it's not that the table is inadequate in it's own right, it's just too small and lightweight and you'll get too much vibration to get a smooth cut.

Excellent quality but small
Quality is exceptional for home use. Mounts for holding parts are a bit fiddly, but fine. Perfect for my table top drill press, albeit it small. Bonus points for it being Made in Japan! (Explains great quality)

It can be used to mill an 80% AR lower with a drill press
I have a relatively inexpensive drill press that I purchased from a Menards store in Carmel, Indiana, about 15 years ago but I was needing a milling table to attach to the press for milling out an 80% lower AR made of cast aluminum. I pursued some reading concerning the mill work that was required to turn an 80% lower into 100% and it looked like I needed a table that was adjustable down to fractions of a millimeter. When I received the Micro Compound table I realized that the AR lower barely fit on the table; however, I figured out that I could lock down one end by passing through the magazine slot and tightening the AR lower to the table with the use of a 1/4" drive ratchet (10mm socket) and extension and locking down the other end as in the instructions that came with the compound table: problem solved. I actually locked the custom milling jig (for the AR lower) to the table using the pass through bolts in the jig as attachment points. I made my own separate jig to bolt the Proxxon 27100 to the drill press table and locked the drill press table at 0 degrees. The Z axis on a drill press is adjusted by cranking the press table up or down but make sure the table is locked in position well after cranking or the press table will twist when the bit is engaged and beginning to mill aluminum - my left thumb nail learned a hard lesson. Note that drill presses are made to function vertically, not horizontally, so I did most of the cuts moving the end cutting milling bit vertically (treating it sort of like a drill bit) then finished up the edges by taking very small increments at a time (~0.1 mm) moving the bit laterally through the metal with the rotating edge always moving toward the metal for a smooth finish. I only had to tighten the set screws once to reduce play in the table. I won't admit how much time I put into milling out the 80% lower over the last month. However, now I have a fully functional AR lower which I began to assemble successfully yesterday. The Proxxon 27100 table worked well for this project. It will function even better for me next time now that I understand how to use it properly.

Precise and rugged.
After making initial slide tolerance adjustments (instructions are clear), I found this table is remarkably accurate and rigid. Essentially no backlash as well, in the slide wheels. I loved the clamps they provide with the table too. I had researched several before selecting this one, and I’m glad I did. The Japanese quality is evident and most pleasing. It’s very easy to re-zero the slide travel indicators and they are snug. Minor adjustments on the slide v-ways allowed me to use the little crank handles and move quickly, smoothly and accurately. I’m been machining aluminum without a problem. It took a while to adjust my bench-top drill press for spindle wiggle. Any vibration there will make chatter in the cut. Very pleased. This is a good-value product too. I have no problem having to fine-tune the table for essentially perfect operation within a 1/2 hour. If it were done by the supplier it would have increased the price, and down the road, I would need to do it again after significant use and some wear accumulated. I expect I’ll get long and enjoyable use out of this product.

WORTHLESS
This item is absolutely worthless. It is not even close to what Amazon tells you it is. It would be better sol;d a a kids toy rather than a piece of equipment. I would advise everyone that is looking to buy a cross vise table not to buy this from Amazon because it is a piece of nothing.

Just received the item today, which was excellently packaged. I have also had the chance for a play with the table. the quality is outstanding and cannot be faulted. As I intend the table to be used as a stage for extreme stack macro photography, it seems to do all that i ask of it. I shall post images obtained using the table during the next week or so. there is no slackness or play in either the x or y adjustment. I know that you can get tables that look the same for around half the price of this one, but they will not be anywhere near the same build quality as I have seen one or two of them. For precision equipment like this , you will get what you have paid for and quality like this costs. Please keep an eye on this as I will be posting images obtained using the table.

great for milling various materials on a press drill. Great for use with micro carbide endmills. Excellent rigidity in the center when slide nuts a tightened properly. better rigidity of the table at the far end when turned by holding the metal wheel instead of the knob (whobbles a little with the knob if turned too fast outside the center region in the x axis. otherwise pretty solid, reliable and precise construction at an excellent price for such a useful tool.
