This looked a lot like the America's Test Kitchen top pick for meat pounders, but probably less expensive. It works, almost too well. One must have some restraint when flattening or the meat gets too thin. Seems very sturdy and heavy and the perfect diameter. If you have enormous hands, you might need a bigger pounder as the handle was perfect for me, a size medium in latex gloves.

I purchased this item, and have you used it to compress homemade pie crust but not its intended purpose as a meat pounder? So I can't speak to its fitness for purpose. It is pretty heavy, so it works perfectly for my purposes. The design is easy for me to hold, it has been simple to clean, and it doesn't take up too much space to store.

This meat pounder is the best I have used. The stamp handle design and the string weight of the metal do the job fast. The ergonomics seem better than the traditional hammer style. It takes no space to store. If you need to flatten any meat uniformly, this is the tool to have in your gadget drawer.
