GREAT WATER CANS, HEAVY DUTY, MILITARY GRADE
After years of storing water in those clear spring water jugs from HD & WM, and having them ultimately split and leak at the darndest times, I finally decided to go with something a little more substantial and these fit the bill perfectly. I bought the 6-pack and as I was doing the initial wash & sanitize steps on these, I was reminded of the old Samsonite luggage commercial from the 70's where they torture-tested the luggage with gorillas...well, these things are definitely gorilla proof! Some reviewers complain about the smell of plastic and relate that to "dangerous and toxic chemicals" and I read one review that claimed that Scepter mixed up the plastic on these for the plastic that they use for fuel cans. Sorry scooter, that's just plain silly and a knee-jerking, review from an uninformed person. Fact, these water cans are made of food-grade, BPA free plastic. 100% safe! They are blow molded and shortly thereafter the lid is affixed and sealed-up and prepared for shipping. Guess what scooter...these things are made of plastic and plastic smells like plastic...surprise-surprise...the inside is going to smell like plastic immediately after opening up never used can, especially when new and freshly sealed up. I removed the lids and let mine air-out for about 24 hours and there was just the faintest smell of plastic. After a double-wash & rinse with Dawn dish detergent, there is no smell. I filled with water and taste-tested after a week and my water tastes like water. Absolutely zero after taste and no plastic taste. These are good cans! I did perform a slight modification to my lids in order to make them more easier to dispense. I took a brand-new, 1/2" NPT pipe tap and cut threads into the inside of the small pour spout. Then went to HD and bought a 1/2" water valve so I can screw it into the pour spout and sit the can on it's side and let gravity fill my water bottles and anything else that needs filling. I highly recommend these water cans! They will literally be the last water can that you will ever buy unless it gets lost or stolen. If you're sitting on the edge about these cans, just buy them and give them a good airing-out and washing before use...and remember plastic smells like plastic when new.

High quality water storage
These are a great set of very sturdy water cans. The handles make them easy to carry and they are very stable. The plastic is thick and you can feel that they are built with quality. The caps have a screw on pour spout and a screw on air release to allow for pouring without the glub-glub annoyance. Yes, you will pay more for these than for many other models but it is worth it in my estimation. I have used them extensively in the field and they hold up well unless you abuse them.

Hard to tighten fully but otherwise great
Great containers, very high quality, the large cap, small cap, and air valve combination are great features that I appreciate. The size and shape is ideal for storage and the handle makes it easy to move around and tip over for use. DOWNSIDES: It's extremely difficult to crank down the large cap tight enough for it to be leak-proof when on it's side. This felt important, not for long-term storage, but for when I eventually use the water, I'll want it sitting on it's side and will just use the small cap to refill water pitchers. It DOES crank down tight enough to be leak-proof but it took me many tries and it took all of my strength to make it happen. There is also a plastic smell that I assume will go away with time.

Great value and quality camping water storage
Just as solid as military grade version we have. We drilled out the little hold to 3/4" size and were able to fit a battery operated water dispenser. We use this while camping. Great deal when you buy 3 or more.

Reservoir for my Poison Arrow Frogs enclosure
Fantastic quality! My arm, thankfully (with the help of vegetable oil) was able to go through the 3.5 opening to secure the nut to the bulkhead. I love the all black as it matches my enclosure stand. I’d definitely buy again!

Great overall (will see about only having two o-rings)
Build quality is mostly great. It’s much more durable than other items I looked at. Yes it’s double the price, but if it doesn’t leak then it’s totally worth it. I bought it for camping and to have as an emergency water supply for car break downs in the desert. It did leak when I filled it up and turned it over from the large cap, until I torqued it some more. I will update to five stars if it doesn’t leak some after being around in the back of my SUV for several weeks of LA driving. There are O-rings on the small breather hole and the large cap. The medium size pour cap has no o-ring. It doesn’t make sense to me why two do and one doesn’t. I don’t doubt this is a genuine product. I wonder if it is an older model or if it is an error in shipping, handling, design, manufacturing, or packaging. It seems other people have gotten ones with two o-rings. I did turn it upside down after hand torquing it moderately hard and it didn’t leak. We will see if it stays that way and I’ll upgrade my review to 5 stars. Perhaps for some reason it doesn’t need an o-ring on the pour cap. I’m not an engineer. I’m not sure if I could buy one cheaply. If it doesn’t leak I’m going to contact the seller and/or manufacturer. I don’t think I should have to buy some sort of wrench to hard torque the product to basically work but what do I know exactly. I don’t foresee this being the failure mode though because there is an o-ring there. Someone else’s comment about the inside lip-mouth being funky looking is true. Perhaps the plastic molding/manufacturing process is imperfect. I don’t care so long as the product works—it doesn’t have to be pretty on the inside. I don’t doubt it is a genuine product as some have commented here they received one that wasn’t. There are very minor imperfections in the plastic even on the outside but again, the overall build quality is so great besides the weird 2/3 o-ring thing I don’t care. It’s not made to be displayed at Canne. It’s a camping/emergency water supply, zombie apocalypse type product if it’s not for military. I haven’t drank the water yet but did wash it some just with soap. Will try bleach like someone suggested if it’s funky tasting still when I need to go camping.

Fantastic for Water Storage
There are a few reasons why this worked so well on a camping trip: 1. Dimensions Other water containers we've used are big giant cubes and are hard to carry and work with. The Scepter is Slim and tall (comparatively) which makes it easier to carry around without it banging into your legs like the cube-shaped ones. It's also easier to pour from with it being tall and having the air-bleed valve in a convenient spot. 2. Durability Built like a tank. Enough said. 3. No smell Ours didn't have a smell. Others have reported a smell, but ours didn't have one. Also it's BPA free. Downsides 1. The caps get in the way when pouring. Both the small and big. You have to hold them out of the way or else they swing down into the stream of water. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. All in all, a really, really solid storage can. Worth every penny.
