I owned a Sansco DVR, which I purchased several years ago, Model number: DX-8004. The unit was superb and lasted really well. Unfortunately, it eventually gave up the ghost. Probably not helped by my electricity consumer board tripping out lots of times recently. I was so happy with my previous Sansco DVR that I decided to replace it with another. Ideally I would have liked to buy the exact same unit, but apparently these have been discontinued. It didn't matter because I was happy to buy the next available, similar model. I was more than happy with price of the new unit, and it came in much cheaper than prices from other manufacturers units with a similar spec. My new unit arrived very quickly, and only took me a few minutes to set it up. I'm not great with tech gadgets, but this was so simple, even for me. The images were absolutely crystal clear, even though I was using my existing 4 Sansco Cameras, which are also quite old. I did notice quite quickly, that the internal motor was quite noisy, with a loud buzzing noise. I was going to simply accept this as one of those things, and if I closed the door to the room it was situated in I would have been able to live with the noise, but I contacted Sansco, explained the problem, and within just a few short hours they replied. Their customer service was fantastic. They told me that they always want their customers to have the best possible experience, so they would deal with this issue stright away. I purchased my new DVR on 19th December, it arrived by 21st December. I installed it the same day, noticed the noise, and contacted Sansco. They replied very quickly, and the issue has already been resolved. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company and their products. Thier products are top class, and their customer service is beyond amazing! To say that I am a very happy customer of Sansco would be an huge understatement.

I would recommend Sansco for their products and customer service. This is the second Sansco CCTV dvr we have bought. The system is easy to setup and this latest software with the face recognition is fantastic, along with more search and play options, making it easier to pull up what your looking for. We encountered problems 4 months in and customer services was quick to diagnose that the fault was with the power supply. A new power supply was sent and all is now working once again. They respond quickly to any questions you may have and will help sort out any issues.

As described this is a stand-alone DVR with just a mouse to control and set up, so if you’re thinking of purchasing this product, where are you going to put it, it’s ok if you're going to use it on a PC or monitor, if you're like me with it under the TV it’s a little awkward to set up aged 72, then I would get the complete package with a remote and new cameras. You can download the XMEye and the setup wizard will take you through the setup, there is also a few video’s on youtube you can take a look at. With regard to the manual for the product, it’s only supplied with a quick start guide but you can download a full manual to help with all the settings, I’ve just ordered a long male to female USB extension cable to help me use the settings and search functions using the mouse, this is where a remote would be handy, you’ll also need a coaxial cable to connect it to the TV. The unit supports 1080p Analog/IP Cameras, HDMI VGA Output, as I had replaced my cameras on my old system a couple of years ago I decided to use them rather than purchase a full system with new cameras. They work ok but the quality isn’t anything like 1080p, so with hindsight, I would have purchased a full system, other than that the system is working, I can access recorded files on the hard drive through the app, also download them if required onto phone or tablet or back up to USB memory stick. There is also a function to zoom in on any selected area in the camera view; I think this function would be better quality with dedicated cameras that are supplied with a full system, with my old cameras the quality isn’t there. To sum up, it a good DVR works with older camera easy to set up access to recorded footage or live feed anywhere in the world if you require HD Quality go for the full system with new cameras.

When my old DVR died I intended to replace like for like but my original item was no longer available. That turned out to be a matter of good fortune as the replacement is so much better than my original one and significantly cheaper. This unit is very easy to set up (with one caveat: see below) and the video output is very good. The menu is reasonably easy to find your way around and record/playback is easy to set up and use. The web interface is where this unit scores so heavily over my old machine. Setup is so simple and the apps for iPhone and iPad are very easy to use. That caveat about setup. Be careful not to do as I did initially. The DVR went into setup mode as soon as I powered it up and at that point I hadn’t connected the monitor properly. The HDMI cable wasn’t fully seated. (A VGA socket is also available). I heard a beep and unfortunately I clicked on the mouse before I realised the monitor was blank and in doing so I set up the machine with the default Chinese menu. It was tricky trying to figure out how to reset the language to English so I contacted support. They were quick to respond but the girl from the Chinese takeaway was even quicker! Problem solved. One very happy customer!
