Excellent piece of equipment
I purchased a tamper plate on ebay that wasn't really as robust as this one, and it didn't last very long. This one has a very heavy cast base that does an excellent job on cohesive soils with a generic 2200W electric hammer that was also purchased on Amazon. I've also used it on 3/4 gravel, which is firmly locked into place after one pass (no lose stones). I have no doubt this unit could last for years with daily use. It isn't light by any means, so if you're using it with a really large hammer, you better eat your Wheaties.

Doesn't fit Mikita/Harbor Freight style jackhammers.
I gave it 4 stars at first but changed it to 5. It didn't fit my Harbor Freight jackhammer. It was my fault for ordering the wrong part but once I milled it down to fit it worked great.

Not a universal 1 1/8
It is NOT universal 1 1/8 HEX shank.Larger than normal hex, and notch is on the flat rather than on the point of the hex. ( did not pick up on that. there is a picture of the shank)had to grind down profile to fit because it was something I needed, and no time to ship back.Difficult item to findBut time consuming to make fit

Hefty
Nice and bulky, not very large foot print but ideal for corners where the vibrating compactor can’t quite reach/trenches. I like it so far

Good value and quality
The tamper looks well made and packs enough weight to do the job without feeling overly difficult to handle. It fits fine into a different branded demolition hammer, but with a 1-1/8" hex shank which I also bought at Amazon. I'll get a lot of benefits out these purchases, as these items will come in very handy in several projects I'm planning to complete soon.

Disruption of the shank is incorrect
The shaft size is not 1 1/8" so it does not fit most electric jack hammers. Also the notched out part is on a flat and not on a pointed part of the shaft. I believe I can take my angle grinder and make it fit . Shouldn't have to though.

it compacts well.
heavy duty compactor attachment for our jack hammer. used it today at the job site. wow it worked great. heavy but well made. it should last us many years to come. worth every penny....
