Less drying than the shampoo. - Out of all the brass fighting shampoos & conditioners I've tried, this is still the best product I've found as far as actually producing results, not causing damage to my hair, and allowing for control of how much color is deposited and where. It's particularly great for those with damaged and/or very dry hair. The color is actually blue (not dark violet or purple). So it's truly meant to neutralize orange and copper tones. I've taken my naturally dark (level 2-3) hair to a level 9 blonde and every shade of blonde to light brown in between. Each time, I wanted to maintain as neutral or cool/ashiness of a color as possible. I made the mistake of using this on my hair when it was too light (slightly lighter than or at a level 7). I wanted to neutralize "yellow-orange" tones (more yellow than orange), but this was a bit too blue for the job. This hair mask did its job, but some of my hair was left with a murky green tone that was really noticeable under natural sunlight. I would say this is safe to use on hair that is level 6 or darker. Be careful with level 7 hair. This is probably "too blue" for any color lighter than a level 7. I found that the shampoo (made by the same brand) works better, but it's also very drying. That's why I ended up trying this hair mask. My hair was so bleach damaged that parts of it would not even hold dye anymore, yet it seemed to stain very quickly from the blue pigment in the shampoo. (I wrote a review on the blue shampoo explaining how I worked around that issue.) It also left my hair so dry that I had to find ultra conditioning masks to use right after. I prefer this blue hair mask because it allows me to use a gentle shampoo for cleansing, and I have more control over how it's applied. This is especially helpful when my hair is dyed with an ombre/melt like effect. I can easily wash my hair, wring out excess water, pat it dry as much as possible, then comb this mask where I want it applied. For the lighter parts of my hair, I can do several things: dilute this mask with conditioner, rinse it off earlier than the darker part of my hair, mix this hair mask with a purple conditioner, just use a purple conditioner alone, etc. There's so much more control when applying this hair mask than when using any kind of color depositing/correcting shampoo. Even though the shampoo is stronger, this mask can work just as well. I just tend to leave it on a little longer than the instructions advises. WARNING: This product can stain your skin. So if you intend to leave it on longer than the instructions call for, you may want to wipe off any product that may gotten on your face, body, and hands. (Especially between your fingers.) Most of it scrubs off fairly easily if it does stain, and the color usually doesn't linger more than a day on my skin. I have very pale skin, so it may not be as noticeable on people with darker skin tones. The product can also stain your shower if you don't rinse it off well or let it sit too long. And it will stain white or very light towels. You may want to have a dedicated towel when using this product. And make sure your hair is pretty dry before putting on any light colored tops. You'll know how much excess pigment is at risk of transfer the next time you wash your hair because you can see some of the blue color rinse out each time until eventually your hair rinses clear again. Overall, this is the best brass fighting conditioner I've found. It allows me to extend the time I need to touch up my hair with a chemical toner. It really limits the amount of chemical damage I put my hair thru. It basically works the same as mixing a little bit of semi-permament blue dye into hair conditioner. (However, I've tried the latter "DIY hack" and prefer using the mask instead. The semi-permanent dye mixed with conditioner definitely stains my hair stronger and doesn't offer as predictable results. If I've overdone it with this hair mask, at least I know it'll gradually wash out or wash out very well with a harsh shampoo. The home hack doesn't wash out easily if you make a mistake.) If you have problems trying to maintain cool or ash hair colors due to mostly orange and copper (brassy tones), give this product a try. It may take a couple uses to start seeing the effect. After you get it right, you only need to use it every so often. If dark purple masks or conditioners aren't quite cutting it for you, try mixing a little bit of this in. If your hair is pretty healthy and you need a brass fighting product, the shampoo is worth trying... it works faster, but just know it is very drying. Review: 10000% works! - 10000% works!! I’ve used this for many years on my natural hair that turned brassy after dying it, and on my hair extensions. I don’t use the whole system, just this mask, and it works even after 1 use and leaves your hair extra soft. It can be messy to apply and definitely gets all over your body and shower but just make sure to rinse it all off before you’re done. To me, the little mess is totally worth the color adjustment.

Great Buy for the Cost
My hair always pulls a dingy orange and Brass Off takes it right out. I’ve used numerous products and nothing compares to this moisturizing and effective mask.

Pairs well with the Brass off Shampoo.
It’s pretty good at toning down too much brass in your hair. Only thing is that I prefer conditioner rather than mask. It is a bit messy to use & says that you shouldn’t get it on your hands, but it did not leave my hands Blue.

Good Buy
I have highlights and I used this because my highlights had unwanted orange undertones and it worked! It takes a few times to see big difference but after doing it a few times you will definitely notice. It also lasted me quite a while and I used it like once a week. The smell is also perfect because it’s not too strong but stills smells good! The only thing I would say to watch out for is it does stain some things like your hands if you keep a lot on your hands for over too long but other then that amazing product 5/5!

Ineffective for orange brassiness
Did not work whatsoever! I bleached my hair at home and have a lot of orangey yellow brassiness, I applied Matrix brass off hair mask and allowed it to stay on for 20 minutes. Rinsed it out, hair looked EXACTLY the same as it did before I applied it. Reapplied once more and let it stay on another 20 minutes and no improvement whatsoever. Save your money.

Beste Haarmaske ever!!
