Had some old seasoning still and we compared the smells to each other and they are totally different. This bottle doesn't smell like mesquite. I have used it several times and the final result is good. Everyone has agreed the smell is different. Sad McCormick chose to change the recipe. Lots more "big" pieces of spice. I bought it because the price is the same as a small bottle at the grocery store in town. That said, this will take me years to use because it doesn't smell like the "mesquite" smell the our family likes. We still love the Grill Mates and will continue to use them for the grill.

Mmmm, this gives meat that mesquite smoky flavor from the grill even when cooking in the oven, I love it 😀

This is a pretty big jug for spices, practically restaurant size. I think it will be fresh till the end, because it will be used often. It’s a very good blend.

This is one of my go-to seasonings for tri-tip roasts. It give a delicious smoky flavor. I use this, plus the McCormick "Montreal" seasoning. I sprinkle both seasonings *liberally* on both sides of the meat and spray with cooking spray to hold it in place. Then I grill it on the barbeque to an internal temperature of 110 degrees F. It turns out perfectly medium-rare every time!

Didn't like, price. It's a lot of money for a seasoning. Like, the flavor and aroma. I use it on steak and salmon. Both are worthy of the extra cost for the flavor.. I'm going to try on some barbeque chicken next.
